Brief Brand History

Before its founding, Omega was formally known as La Generale Watch Co. Originally, the company began at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by Louis Brandt. Brandt began as a watchmaker who originally assembled precision pocket watches. It was then in 1894 when Brandt’s sons developed a revolutionary in-house manufacturing control system. Since then watches developed using this technique were marketed under the Omega name. This is what led to La Generale Watch Co to officially found the Omega brand in 1903.
