But time and progress go hand in hand. Following on from their successes like receiving the first official Geneva Seal in 1901 or the world’s thinnest manual winding movement, the Calibre 1003 in 1955, The Vacheron Constantin 222 was released in 1977 as a forward thinking piece for an increasingly fast-changing society, marking 222 years of the brand.

Originally in yellow gold, Brad Pitt was spotted wearing this beauty at Wimbledon 2023 during the final match. And boy does he love the 222. He was spotted a few months ago showing this off in LA, donned only in a very casual tee and jeans. As an ambassador to Rolex and the youngest World Number 1 in the history of the ATP, he sported none other than the beautiful Daytona 116500LN on court with its meteorite dial. A nod to his meteoric rise to tennis stardom? Quite fitting for a young man who took the starlight express to victory!

Recently releasing timepieces such as the Big Bang Tourbillon SAXEM Act II with its very own fluorescent allure due to its composition of "Sapphire Aluminium oXide and rare Earth Mineral", the brand continues to push to increasingly new boundaries of Haute Horology.

With a phenomenal history, including being the first luxury brand on the moon with the Speedmaster, Omega have continued to bolster their reputation as one of the best luxury watch brands out there.

Can we really be shocked about them becoming the largest manufacturer of finished watches in Switzerland since 1903? Furthermore, they are ranked within the top 5 luxury Swiss brands by overall revenue.

Omega has a reputation as long as the list of Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m models…which currently stands at nearly 150 iterations. They are the creators of the first minute repeater in 1892, the first movement resistant to 15,000 gauss (no wonder why the Milgauss was discontinued!) and their very own Master Chronometer Certification with COSC certification. Oh yes they have METAS approval as well.

The Seamaster collection is the longest running line from Omega which stems all the way back to 1948. Originally designed for the Royal Navy, the collection has been optimised for the modern user with its classy ceramic bezel and highly distinguishable laser engraved dial face, pertaining to the waves.

Wimbledon saw Omega out in full force. None more so than an extremely personal gift from Princess Diana, late mother of Prince William in the form of the Omega Seamaster 300m. The brand was adorned by scientist Brian Cox who wore the legendary Speedmaster that has deep horological ties, established in 1957. Nothing says science like watches heading to the moon!

Speaking of Wimbledon 2023, singer Nick Jonas got into the spirit of things with his Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, fitted with a luxury brown leather strap. Fitting with a cream Ralph Lauren suit that’s so Wimbledon worthy, while we have our own personal reservations against the tightness of his suit jacket, the watches are a coherent piece with his and most other outfits.

From receiving the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie for the RM 012 Tourbillon and creating the world’s lightest mechanical watches, The RM 027 for Rafa Nadal, Richard Mille has influenced the timekeeping world like no other during their short run in the timekeeping spectrum.

And this is in spite of their youthful inception back in 1999 with the support of none other than Audemars Piguet.

Their pieces tend to be a little out there but still lead to overwhelming demand compared to supply. Did you know Richard Mille only manufactures around 5,000 watches annually? Who knew this prestigious tournament was all about flaunting your fashion? We certainly did and Wimbledon 2024 did not disappoint. With defending champ Carlos Alcaraz stepping up this year to continue his winning streak, he defeated the very unfortunate Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 to become a two time champ.

Outside of the green lawns, cramped commentary boxes and sweaty men, spectators were looking on and secretly posing for the camera’s. Oscar worthy icons like Rami Malek and Pierce Brosnan sat side-by-side with musicians like Stormzy, royalty like Prince Albert of Monaco and Rolex CEO, Jean-Frédéric Dufour.

Yes, we even spotted Monsieur Dufour having a sneaky Pimms and Lemonade.

As an offshoot of the endlessly desirable Cartier Tank, the Française stands as a redesigned play on this magnanimous line.

The Cartier Tank was originally introduced in 1918 after Louis Cartier arrived back from the Western Front. He felt inspired to create a timepiece designed on the birds eye view of military tanks. Out of sorrow does come a little joy. Hard times indeed, but the rectangular case mimicking brancards and the machine's treads have since become emblematic of the line.

However, in 1996 the watches evolved into a new collection known as the Cartier Tank Française. Designed in a larger case, this variation offers users a wide range of styles, materials and complications to suit the active man, the gent looking for something discerning, or an all out luxury machine created to catch eyes and break horophiles hearts.

As the watch worn by Princess Diana and Grammy award winner Mick Jagger, the Française is therefore not something to take lightly. While not on the court, Rami Malek delighted in serving up a delightful ensemble, including his steel Cartier Tank Française.

Turns out at this year’s Wimbledon, he opted for a large model in steel and with a black leather strap. While steel does not have the luxury connotations of precious metals, Cartier does a sublime job of offering a vertical brushed finish along the case, while simultaneously providing a polished finish along the case and bracelet sides.

The dial is a stalwart and remains a fabulous indicator of the classic Cartier style. On the side of the case lies a synthetic cabochon-shaped spinel in a dark blue. Given a silvered dial with blued hands, these work well alongside the black Roman numerals and central minute track. Also, Cartier granted us a small date aperture based at 3 o’clock for that added complication.

Rami has his pairing game on point. Dressed in a black suit, blue tie and designer black tint shades, the steel Française stands out well and effortlessly slides out from his white suit shirt. Who knew that money looked so good?

The Rolex Daytona Le Mans is the fusion of one of the world's most recognizable racing watches, with possibly the most famous racing event in history.

But, how did Rolex and Le Mans become well acquainted? Rolex has always had a soft spot for racing, running back as far as the 1930’s wherein Rolex took to legendary racer Sir Malcom Campbell, fitting him with a Rolex Oyster for his record breaking activities like breaking the 300 mph speed barrier in the Bluebird.

Eventually, Rolex progressed their portfolio to include stars like Sir Jackie Stewart, nine-time Le Mans winner, Tom Kristensen and 2009 F1 Driver World Champion, Jenson Button. For Le Mans, Rolex has served as the Official Timepiece of the event since 2001, resulting in the Genevan giant producing a Le Mans inspired Daytona in 2023 for the event's 100 year anniversary.

Synonymous with energetic spirit, the Rolex Daytona was manufactured in 1963 and became one of the flagship lines for the brand. Originally unsuccessful, it took a brand new calibre, Cerachrom bezel and worn on the wrist of Paul Newman for the line to eventually reach its current desirability level.

The Rolex Daytona Le Mans 126529LN variant comes in white gold and has unfortunately since been discontinued after a very short run. Totalling 40mm x 12.2mm the pieces fit the classic Daytona silhouette, including prominent lugs and sporty pushers either side of the crown.

For the dial, users are pleased to note the Paul Newman inspired exotic dial in a classic reverse panda chronograph style. Yielding a black Cerachrom tachymetric scale on the bezel, you may have noticed that the “100” is in red as opposed to the white scale as an ode to the 100th anniversary of the Le Mans race.

For playing speeds of Djokovic and Alcaraz, we are glad for the triple chronograph threat in the form of three sub-dials and the rapid calibre 4132 that is Superlative Chronometer certified and offers a strong 28,800VpH.

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5990 was originally released at Baselworld 2014, and sought to combine two incredibly desirable functions, a chronograph alongside a dual time zone function.

As a part of the desirable Nautilus line, the first edition of the collection was released in 1976. Representing one of the very first sports-chic timepieces released under Gerald Genta’s reign, the Nautilus was actually the product of a sketch he did while sitting in a restaurant…on a napkin. For the Big Bang Integrated Green Ceramic, this totals 42mm and is made out of ceramic. This material is exceptionally tough and scratch resistant, especially since Hublot makes it in-house and creates it using a very strong base of zirconium.

Furthermore, this is a green variant of ceramic which is very rare, and thoroughly polished to produce a clean finish. This material is spotted throughout, including the case, the popular circular bezel with visible screws and lugs.
