Since its founding in 1875, Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet partnered to create their brand, which has continued to remain a family owned business. When the watchmakers joined forces, Audemars was in charge of technical aspects, while Piguet focused on sales and management. In 1972 the company introduced their Royal Oak model, which is generally considered to be their most popular watch to date.
