So cool, and collected.

While they may not have been around as long as the white, silver or black varieties, blue dial watches have fast become a must-have accessory for female watch enthusiasts. What began as a bit of a quirky trend five or six years ago has now gone mainstream and today you’ll find blues of all hues in almost every brand’s collection. Today we’re going to be looking at what we believe to be the best blue dial ladies watches from Omega.

People have switched onto a blue dial’s versatility; it’s stylish enough to dress up the workday (or zoom call) wardrobe and laid back enough to pair with a favourite pair of denim jeans or chinos. And, blue works with loads of other colours.

It’s a theme that Omega has picked upon. The Bienne based brand has embraced blue across its best known families of watches; Seamaster, Speedmaster and De Ville. Each brings something a little different to the table, so whether you’re looking for some casual elegance, vintage glamour or serious horological chops, Omega have you covered.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M Co-Axial Master Chronometer 34 mm

It was in 2002 (how time flies!) that Omega introduced us to a new chapter in the Seamaster story, the Omega Aqua Terra. As the name suggests, the idea was to design everyday watches that could be worn in pretty much any and all situations. Central to the development of the concept was Omega’s all-in development of the co-axial movement, a mechanical feature that provides greater accuracy and longer service intervals. On top of that, in recent years Omega has pursued its flagship Master Chronometer programme; to turn out watches of superior performance.

The first of our best blue dial ladies watch from Omega is a ladies' Seamaster Aqua Terra which is a thoroughly modern watch with a classic twist: let’s call it sports elegance. With a symmetrical lyre-lugged 34mm case in stainless steel sits a glossy midnight-blue dial with a date window at 6 o’clock and 11 diamond indexes in rhodium-plated holders.

The watch comes on a bang on-trend integrated stainless steel bracelet and under the hood you’ll find the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 8800, certified at the industry’s highest standard by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

Omega Speedmaster 38

The legendary Omega Speedmaster's history goes right back to 1957 when it was introduced as a sports and racing chronograph, complementing Omega's position as the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games. What you see here is a smaller, automatic version of the classic Speedmaster, a watch that Omega quietly added to its line-up in 2017. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a watch that retains the look of the original Speedmaster Professional, but in smaller proportions and the convenience of automatic winding.

The Speedmaster has celebrated many special events over the years and here the central seconds hand features a charming and discrete Orbis teddy bear counter-weight; a show of Omega’s support for the critical eye care provided by Orbis International in the fight against preventable blindness.

The sun-brushed blue dial includes rhodium-plated indexes and hands that are varnished Orbis blue. A 38mm stainless steel case bezel with a tachymeter scale on blue aluminium is set off by the polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet. This is a Speedmaster that holds so much appeal which is why we have considered it as one of the best blue dial ladies watches from Omega.

Seamaster Aqua Terra Quartz Reference:

Aqua Terra 150M Quartz 28 mm

If you’re the type of person who likes to put on a watch in the morning and wear it all day whatever you’re doing, this Seamaster Aqua Terra can absolutely be that watch. With 150 metre water resistance, it’s perfectly happy in the pool. Slipping away to an evening party? No problem, this watch has your back. Housed in a symmetrical 28mm stainless steel case this Aqua Terra features a glossy ice blue dial, 8 dotted rhodium-plated indexes and 4 diamond indexes in rhodium-plated holders. It whispers elegance rather than shouting about it and certainly rewards close inspection - the detailing is just great.

The rhodium-plated hands really pop against that blue dial, and there’s interest on the reverse too, where the caseback is embossed with the classic Omega ‘hippocampus’ emblem on a wavy background. An integrated stainless steel bracelet completes a classy package whilst the reliable ‘long life’ Omega Calibre 4061 quartz movement takes care of the timekeeping. We simply could not leave this watch out of this list of best blue dial Omega watches for ladies.

Prestige Quartz 27.4 mm

Looking for a slightly more dressy blue dialled Omega to add to your collection? Take a look at their De Ville collection.

The De Ville collection was launched as a separate line by Omega in 1967 to offer a more sophisticated alternative to its Seamaster sports models. It has since established itself as a line of watches with individual charm, elegance and heritage. One of the stand-out features of a De Ville watch is always the dial and this ‘Prestige’ ladies model presents a striking blue dial set with diamond markers and Roman numerals.

That lovely dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. (De Villes are practical watches, not just elegant.) The bezel is mounted on a 27.4 mm stainless steel case and is presented on a matching bracelet.

The modern Omega De Ville Prestige line rarely receives the attention lavished upon its higher profile collections, which is perhaps no bad thing. It simply adds to their charm and adds to their vibe of quiet confidence which is why we felt the need to include this model in our top 5 blue dial Omega watches for women.

DE VILLE TRESOR Reference: 428.

Trésor Quartz 36 mm

Elsewhere in the Omega De Ville collection, (as with all the other Omega collections), you’ll find a multitude of “sub-series” hidden within. One of these is ‘Trésor’. The Omega Trésor was initially released in 1949 as a simple timepiece meant to embody craftsmanship and class without too many fussy complications. The updated models, released in 2018, are a little more adventurous but still maintain the original aesthetic that would be expected of a dress watch from the 1950s.

Most noticeable is a wave-shaped row of diamonds either side of the bezel. The stand-out feature, however, is the large Roman numerals which grace the face, they almost look more like a pattern rather than time markers. The Omega logos make up an eye-catching flower-shaped crown in red liquid ceramic surrounding a single diamond.

The caseback is mirrored and features a flower inspired imprint that runs right across the case, similar to the idea behind the numbers on the face. The 36mm size gives real wrist presence and space which allows the many design elements to remain balanced, just beautifully.
