2. Personality Of The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Tara
As many connoisseurs are already aware, B&R are famed for their aviation pieces as seen via the BR-03 lineup, delivering novelties to pilots, the military and divers for the best part of three decades.

But like Richard Mille, they have decided to break from the norm to launch this new number while keeping the typical characteristics we associate with the brand like its square cased shape. Plus the ceramic is another nice touch which is normally found in typical high-end watches.
This hot drop adds another horological string to the La Chaux-de-Fonds’ bow as they embark on a new collab with the Tara Océan Foundation. With marine exploration, biodiversity and oceanic research firmly on the agenda, it demonstrates the strong bond between man and sea.
With a 42mm case diameter, the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Tara features its quintessential square shaped design with a ceramic case in blue as well as the bezel that enjoys a 60 minute scale for those Michael Phelps wannabes as it can be used to record elapsed dive times.
Kudos goes to the solid 300 metres of water resistance that gives wearers the ability to take it underwater not to mention enjoy a host of nautical activities like kayaking, waterskiing and jet skiing. Ideal to make waves while flexing on your private boat or sunning by the pool too.
The visuals are on purpose and for good reason. Elegant yet timely, the orange and blue is synonymous with the accents of the Tara Océan Foundation logo. Plus it’s ideal in terms of practicality as a diver. Perfect timing you might say especially as this unison is in its inaugural year.

It’s time to delve a little deeper into the design of the timepiece. But hold your horses…not as far down as the Rolex Deepsea Challenge though. That’s for another time and another place. So what can horophiles expect? Deceivingly compact, well constructed and sharp as a pin, look out for the screw down crown together with crown guards located at 3 o’clock. This blends majestically with their all too familiar visuals including four corner screws and screw down crown.
We feel it maintains its pinpoint excellence in its construction, in spite of the difficulties that ceramic cases bring to the horological table. And here, we must give praise to manufacturer G&F Chatelain.
On board this vast 36 metre vessel, the crew of the schooner, which in another lifetime was known as Antarctica and Seamaster will be donning the limited edition BR 03-92 Diver Tara watches with its unidirectional blue and visible orange ceramic graduated 60 minute bezel. This can be viewed from positions 12 till 3.

This is separated into 5 minute periods that is highlighted by the orange around the bezel itself on the circular dial which offers a white minute track running around the inner flange. This commences with a unique white triangle positioned at noon.
Above the marker at 6 you will discover text that displays “Fondation Tara Ocean”, “Water Resistant” and “300m/1000ft” situated just to the right of the minuscule date aperture at 4:30pm. The brand logo sits tall and proud nestled under 12.
As versatile as a Rolex Submariner and made for divers, there is plenty of Super-LumiNova daubed on the circular dial, most notably around the hour and minute hands. And a “lollipop” second hand seems to be all the rage recently.
This is not just seen in the new BR 03-92 Diver Tara coated in orange but in the latest Moonswatch release with Omega’s own 18k gold alloy. Aptly titled Mission To Moonshine - Lollipop Moon, increased readability is still very much on the horologists menu.
The look is rounded off with not one but two types of straps. Firstly, the woven rubber strap in blue that goes perfectly with the all blue allure or the orange synthetic fabric that has a Velcro-style closing.

If we flip this baby over for just a second, you will notice a few elements such as an etching of the schooner Tara alongside, the brand emblem and other details taking in the reference and limited edition information.
What We Like
+ Smart blue ceramic case
+ Impressive water resistance
+ Branching out into uncharted waters from their normal aeronautical division
What We Don’t Like
- Lack of COSC certification which doesn’t justify the price tag.
- Disappointing power reserve of less than 40 hours.
- No inside view of the movement’s inner workings.
3. BR-CAL.302 Movement
Revolving around the original Sellita SW300 aesthetics, which has been used by other brands such as TAG Heuer, forming part of the Calibre 7, the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Tara is home to the automatic BR-CAL.302.
Skipping along merrily like a roundabout at 28,8000(Vph) it claims to offer around 38-40 hours of power reserve. This is by no means weekend-proof per se, but we will let it go this time in favour of its immense 300 metres of water resistance, crystal clear dive clarity and exciting new partnership.

Their mission is to promote a better understanding of the impact of climate change on the ocean and to support the development of solutions for preserving and protecting marine ecosystems.
The foundation's work is centred around the research vessel Tara, a schooner that travels across the world's oceans to conduct scientific expeditions and collect data on marine biodiversity, ecosystems, and the effects of climate change.
By collaborating with various research institutions, the Tara Ocean Foundation has been able to carry out numerous multidisciplinary scientific missions aimed at exploring and documenting the complex and crucial role of the ocean in the Earth's climate system.
One of the foundation's key initiatives is the Tara Ocean expedition, a major scientific research project that aimed to study the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems and biodiversity. This expedition involved a comprehensive analysis of marine microorganisms and their genetic diversity, as well as the study of the various factors influencing their distribution and evolution.
Through its research efforts, the Tara Ocean Foundation seeks to generate data that can contribute to a better understanding of the ocean's vital role in regulating the Earth's climate and its overall health. Additionally, the foundation works to promote public awareness and education on marine conservation issues, aiming to inspire individuals, businesses, and governments to take action to protect and preserve the world's oceans.

The Tara Ocean Foundation collaborates with a wide range of partners, including research institutions, universities, and environmental organisations, to promote the sustainable management of marine resources and the development of innovative solutions for addressing the challenges facing the world's oceans.
Through its research, advocacy, and educational initiatives, this French based foundation strives to foster a greater sense of responsibility and stewardship toward understanding the ocean, encouraging global cooperation and action to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of marine ecosystems for future generations.

7. What’s Our View?
First and foremost, what does the President and Co-Founder of Bell & Ross think about this new release? Well, here’s the scoop;
“For 30 years, the Maison has been equipping extraordinary pilots and divers whose missions and lives itself depend on their instruments and machines. At its core, Bell & Ross is a supplier for explorers and elite units, with each watch designed to meet precise specifications set by the professional world it will enter. That’s why we felt it was important to mark this joining of forces and celebrate the first year of our partnership with a new piece, the BR 03 Diver Tara”
He adds;
“…A key part of our brand’s DNA has always been to equip professionals with tools capable of adjusting to their mission and to push the limits to the extreme, which is why it seemed a natural fit to join forces with the Tara Océan Foundation”.
And we couldn’t have put it better. But what do we say? Look, it's for a good cause and we like the fact a portion of the profits are winging its way straight to the Tara Océan Foundation. In addition, the blue and the orange interplay of hues work well and with first rate legibility that is renowned in Bell & Ross watches.
Be it a tool piece for professional use or marine exploration…what better way to undertake research in the name of science than with one of these flexed on board a schooner!

9. Conclusion
What began as a mere university project between Bruno Belamich and Carlos A. Rosillo (hence the brand name amalgamated from the ends of their surnames!) They have transformed B&R into a well respected brand among the diver, pilot and professional sectors.
Yes we all know them for their coveted aviation or instrument type watches that has seen them weave their horological magic across special force units and even into Formula 1. But this indie watchmaker has been at the epicentre of professional timepieces for a while…and they say what they mean and mean what they say.
Take as an example the epic Hydromax. Released in 1997 it is resistant to a whopping 11,100 metres. Don’t believe us? Take a look for a second in the Guinness Book Of Records where it has been officially recognised for this achievement.
They are constantly pushing the timekeeping boundaries with their cutting-edge tool inspired watches and pursuit of depth. This is also reflected in the professional diving BR-02 series providing 1,000 metres of water resistance. Yet tough demands call for even tougher measures.
And these limited edition watches certainly have them in spades. Add in the association with this new French organisation that has to date produced some 300 scientific reports and recognised more than 200,000 virus types and you have the final piece or hat-trick of Bell & Ross so called universes.
Namely the land in partnership with Alpine, the sky alongside La Patrouille and finally now the sea thanks to the Fondation Tara Ocean. And if you have less than a minute, we have a little treat for you. Take time to explore this fascinating collab with this short promotional clip here
