What Rolex Watch Can You Buy Via Chrono Hunter?

Rolex Daytona

First released in 1963, the legendary Rolex Daytona has become popularised ever since Paul Newman first adopted reference 6239. Originally designed for racing drivers, the Daytona was named after the famous Daytona International Speedway in Florida. As one of the very first Rolex Daytona references, he owned an exotic dial edition which boasts chronograph functionality. His model sold at auction for a cool £15 million in 2017.

Inspired by the iconic race track, the Daytona watches see a lot of racing features, including chronograph functionality, tachymetric scale and a high powered movement. The watches are available in a range of precious metals such as Everose gold or classic Oyster steel.

The legendary bezel is a big part of the timepiece which can measure speeds of up to 400 miles per hour using the moulded tachymetric scale. The black bezels are close reminders of the original 1965 models that utilise black plexiglass bezel inserts.

Cerachrom is Rolex’s version of high tech ceramic which is both very durable and corrosion resistant, plus disaffected by UV rays. The tachymetric scale is fitted via PVD which ensures maximum legibility and that the scale won't fade.

The chronograph subdials allow for highly accurate readings of 1/8th of a second in the central sweep hands, while the other two subdials show the elapsed time in hours and minutes. This allows drivers to quickly calculate their times.

They are typically connected to an Oyster bracelet which is both ergonomic and tasteful in its design. Introduced in the late 1930s, the bracelet is robust and features a secure Oysterlock safety clasp and Easylink 5mm comfort extension link. The dial is finished with Chromalight to improve legibility and the calibre 4131 is Superlative Chronometer certified to qualify the pieces as highly accurate and that they offer longevity.

Due to its esteemed reputation and limited production numbers, the Daytona has become a highly collectible timepiece, commanding significant premiums in the secondary market. Vintage models, particularly those references from the 1960s and 1970s, are especially prized by collectors for their historical significance and scarcity.

Additionally, special editions and rare variants, such as those featuring exotic dials or unique materials, are highly coveted and often fetch astronomical prices at auctions.

Rolex Submariner

The Submariner is arguably the brand’s most recognisable line that's designed specifically for dive lovers. Released in 1953, the watches have been pioneers in water resistance and become the blueprint for all subsequent dive watches.

One main feature of the Submariner is the unidirectional rotatable bezel. Fitted with a knurled edge for instant grip when underwater, the bezel moves notch by notch and provides a distinct click. This means you cannot overshoot your timing as you can be specific with the amount of bezel turns.

There is a very handy Chromalight capsule residing on the zero marker which is essential for reading the start point when in dark seas. The Rolex Submariner dial is kept exceptionally legible and functional. Made up of simple shapes such as triangles, batons and circles in place of hour markers, they allow for reliable timekeeping without being confused.

They are coated with Chromalight which is Rolex’s proprietary luminescent material, producing a rich neon blue glow that enhances the visibility of the hour markers and hands. The crown is given a Triplock winding system resulting in triple waterproofness through a crown that screws down into the crown which enhances the water resistance of the watch.

As the first timepiece to ever reach a depth of 100 metres upon its release in 1953, its standard figure is around 300 metres. Available in Oyster steel and other materials like Rolex’s own Rolesor and yellow gold, you can decide to buy a Rolex for luxury or for pure functionality. It is the everyday dream of both avid enthusiasts and collectors.

These models are locked onto an Oyster bracelet, further protected with an Oysterlock safety clasp. This stops any accidental openings and a Glidelock system which allows micro adjustments to be made without the need for any tools.

Depending on your model, you can opt for a date or no date variation which remain hot pieces to this day. Each is powered by the 3230 and 3235 calibre respectively. These in-house calibres are fitted with a blue Parachrom hairspring which ensures maximum reliability.

Rolex Sky-Dweller

The Sky-Dweller is one of Rolex’s more modern creations since its inception in 2012. Its initial design is influenced by those with a thirst for wanderlust.

Ideal for globetrotters, the Sky-Dweller boasts a range of functions, none more impressive than the Saros Annual Calendar and Ring Command system.

The Rolex Sky-Dweller is the perfect solution for those looking to travel from point A to point B without having to change their watch. While local time is displayed via the intuitive central hands, there is a 24 hour off-centre rotating disc which allows the user to read the time in a second time zone

Totalling date, month, hours, minutes, seconds and second time zone, all these features are exceptionally useful and add another point of interest for those looking for a functional timepiece to use out in the world.

The SAROS calendar is Rolex’s patent and a critical part of the Sky-Dweller’s profile. Inspired by the Greek term for lunar and solar eclipses, the SAROS calendar only requires one date adjustment per year, when February turns to March with the month indicated via a red dot that surrounds all the hour markers.

It’s available in a range of materials, including white gold, steel and white gold, yellow gold and steel and Everose gold.

Given a sunray finish across the dial, the bezels are fluted which is a signature style across most of their dressy collections, and it features a RIng Command system. This allows the rotatable bezel, crown and movement to all work in perfect sync with each other.

All that is required is the bezel to be adjusted to choose between the calendar, date and month, local or reference time. They are then adjusted by altering the crown. It’s the perfect piece for those looking to buy a Rolex which has endless amounts of complexity, yet incredibly easy to use.

For those who are looking to buy a Rolex quickly, you should contact our experts at Chrono Hunter. Our trusted platform will deliver an exceptionally swift and secure sale via our real time portal where you can benefit from a host of offers from our esteemed selection of handpicked retailers.

Rolex Datejust

Debuted in 1945, The Rolex Datejust has been one of Rolex’s most enduring dress watches. Marked as the ultimate piece for elegance, the watch holds the award as the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch to showcase a window displaying the date.

There is the recognisable aperture based at 3 o’clock on the dial. However, a later innovation in 1953 added Rolex’s patented Cyclops eye to the date window  in order to improve legibility and accessibility in every kind of situation.

The Datejust can easily be considered Hans Wilsdorf’s ultimate goal for watchmaking. He stated upon its release that “this is the pinnacle of watchmaking science. It encapsulates every discovery made to date”. Waterproof, self-winding with a date aperture, it's the ultimate functional timepiece.

Fitted with the special Jubilee bracelet, released to celebrate 40 years of the brand, the Datejust is designed with 5 metal links, while the bracelet is the epitome of ergonomic visuals and elegance.

The watches are available in a range of styles. For example, you could buy a Rolex Datejust that has a dial with a mother-of-pearl aesthetic, set with diamonds, palm and fluted motifs. All of them showcase Rolex’s capability in producing phenomenal dials

The bezels are equally luxurious. Available in smooth, domed, fluted or diamond set, the Datejust has a rich tapestry of which offer a strong variety of dials and sizes such as 28mm, 31, 36mm and 41mm for those looking to buy a Rolex

The Rolex Datejust has been the go-to collection for a range of celebrity clientele, including Presidential figures such as Dwight D.Eisenhower, activist Martin Luther King and UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Rolex Day-Date

Considered one of Rolex’s best dress watch lines, The Rolex Day-Date was unveiled in 1956 with its original purpose that it was to be the ultimate watch for everyday use. Its main purpose was to combine two integral functions, the exact day and the date.

The Day-Date became the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch to showcase a date and day of the week spelt out in full across two apertures. The Day-Date quickly became a symbol of success and accomplishment, worn by influential figures, world leaders, and captains of industry. Here's a closer look at this iconic timepiece.

You can only source this timepiece in precious metals such as gold or platinum. The President bracelet was unveiled in 1956 alongside the Day-Date. Given a three semi-circular link construction, this highly reliable timepiece is fitted with a concealed Crownclasp to add a functional element to this wonderful watch.

The bezels are fluted as they were originally used to screw onto the casing and ensure the waterproofness of the timepiece. This fluting continued onto the caseback, but in the modern era the fluting is more of an iconic design element.

The dials represent Rolex’s push for cutting edge modernity. Featuring laser-etched motifs that go alongside a sunray finish, they are accompanied by Roman numeral hour markers that are hand-applied.

You can opt for ornamental stone aesthetics, diamond set hour markers and even an ice-blue sheen on the platinum editions. The watch in the modern era is the timepiece of the world. The date and day of the week are available in 26 languages, including Arabic, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Japanese and Latin.

Whether worn in the boardroom, on the golf course, or at formal affairs, the Day-Date commands attention and respect, making it a timeless classic in the world of luxury watches. This is a culturally aware timepiece that has become an international symbol of Rolex’s allyship with everyone.

Rolex GMT-Master II

The Rolex GMT-Master II is the brand's emblematic line for pilots and those gents that need a timepiece that can match their global lifestyle. Following on from the huge boom in transatlantic flights during the 1950s, the GMT-Master was the perfect accompaniment, especially for huge airline PANAM who adopted the watch for pilots.

Released in 1955, the timepieces came with a red and blue bezel. The bezels are fitted with a 24-hour scale insert which is split into two halves. The red half is distinguished as daylight hours, while the blue represents nighttime. Rolex have since expanded their line out of red and blue. Instead you can choose between a range of colours, some of which have earned nicknames due to their colour associations.

The bezels were originally made out of plexiglass, but now they have been crafted out of Cerachrom since 2005, boasting durability and instant legibility. The numerals and graduations are moulded into the ceramic and coated with PVD for maximum legibility.

In 1982, the GMT-Master II desynchronised the hour hand, minute hand and the 24-hour hand through a fresh movement.

This meant that the GMT hand could be set without interfering with the general timekeeping and ensured the pristine accuracy of the watches. The bezels are fitted with a bi-directional rotatable bezel. Fitted with a trigonal spring to allow it to be turned with ease, you can hear a clear click as it turns across each of the 24 hour positions. Note there is a knurled edge for maximum grip.

The watches are available on a range of straps, including an Oyster bracelet for a sporty dynamic or a Jubilee bracelet for a more luxurious look. The GMT-Master II is constantly evolving.

In 2022, Rolex repositioned the crown and crown guards onto the left hand side of the case as opposed to the traditional right hand positioning. This meant the date aperture and Cyclops eye was moved to 9 o’clock and the bezel is given the legendary green and black bezel colour combination, or the Sprite nickname.

Available in steel, 18K white or Everose gold, you can buy an Everose Rolesor edition. The Everose variants come with a Root Beer bezel nickname in black and brown ceramic. For the 18K white gold edition, you can buy a meteorite dial while the 18K yellow gold and yellow Rolesor models have a Cerachrom bezel in grey and black ceramic.

These watches are typically powered by the Calibre 3235 which delivers Superlative Chronometer certification and powers the GMT functions. In order to buy a Rolex GMT-Master II quickly, choose Chrono Hunter for the best possible deals and fast turnaround.

Rolex Explorer

The Explorer is the product of one of Rolex’s most astounding feats, the ascent of Mount Everest.

On 29th May 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay climbed Mount Everest and became the first two people to reach the highest point on Earth. They both wore Oyster Perpetual chronometers which shows the impact and durability of Rolex’s timepieces.

In celebration of such a storied event, later that year Rolex released The Explorer. As one of Rolex’s first Professional models, they sought to create a timepiece that is capable of dealing with high temperature fluctuations and other tough climates.

The Explorer totalled all the technical advances of Rolex. Featuring the notable Arabic style 3, 6 and 9 numerals against a pitch black dial, the collection is available in two sizes, 36mm and 40mm. In 2021, they introduced Chromalight into the models showcasing maximum legibility.

Crafted into an Oyster case, The Explorer is incredibly durable and is made up of a screw down bezel, caseback and winding crown into the middle of the case. This case represented the first 100 metres waterproof wristwatch case since its release in 1926, making it the perfect choice for the Explorer.

Both the Explorer 36mm and 40mm are available in just Oyster Steel. This alloy is associated with the 904L steel family which is the same material used in chemical and aerospace industries. In fact, Rolex were actually the first watch brand to use the material since 1985.

In 2021, the line was updated to feature a yellow Rolesor edition, combining yellow gold and steel. Designed in the 1930s, the material follows the bezel, crown and centre bracelet being made out of yellow gold while the rest is made out of the durable steel material.

The twinlock crown ensures double waterproofness, as per its release in 1953. By hermetically screwing to the Oyster case, the crown allows the watches to reach 100 metres of water resistance.

These pieces are strapped onto an Oyster bracelet and Oysterlock clasp which prioritises comfort and resistance to corrosion and abrasion. Powered by the Calibre 3230, the Superlative Chronometer movement was revealed in 2020 and features the shock resistant blue Parachrom hairspring.

To buy a Rolex Explorer requires in depth knowledge from an established team. We recommend you choose Chrono Hunter. Over time, we've built up a list of the most credible partners who share our unwavering commitment to providing unparalleled service throughout every transaction.

Rolex 1908

Launched at Watches and Wonders 2023, the Rolex 1908 has become one of Rolex’s out and out dress timepieces replacing the much loved but now discontinued Cellini

Taking inspiration from the inception of Rolex back in 1908, the line is an ode to classic influences through its design. Crafted out of 18K white or yellow gold, the timepieces closely mirror the same shapes as the Oyster Perpetual timepieces from 1931.

Featuring Arabic numerals based at 3, 9 and 12 o’clock, there is an added complication in the form of a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. The faceted, 18K baton hour markers match the same slender shape as the hands.

The hour hand is made up of a small circle towards the tip and the minute hand is a classic sword shape. All the legendary functions of Rolex are retained, including waterproof case, excellent precision and premium comfort on the wrist.

Powered by the Calibre 7140, the movement is a brand new self-winding movement that shows time displayed via a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock and the main hour and minute hands.

The Superlative Chronometer calibre is secured with a Syloxi hairspring and Chronergy escapement which entitles the wearer to a timepiece that resists magnetic fields, alongside Paraflex shock absorbers which protect the oscillator and escape wheel from any unsuspecting shocks.

The watches have an exhibition caseback which entitles you to view the movement clearly. Given a Côtes de Genève Rolex décoration, the sapphire crystal is scratch resistant which means the openwork gold oscillating weight is always on full display.

The watches come with either a domed or fluted bezel which are both equally luxurious. This is paired with a leather strap which offers a supple alternative to the metal of a bracelet. This is fixed via a dual clasp which is fixed around the wrist.

If you want to buy a Rolex 1908 but don’t know where to go, we recommend you go with a tried and tested platform like Chrono Hunter. Simply place your buying request through our online form, set up an account, wait for numerous offers to come through our real time portal and choose which one is suited to your needs.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual

The Oyster Perpetual is Rolex’s original timepiece.

As the flagship line for all later collections, this has evolved with the times and become both a functional and elegant piece.

As the first to adopt the Oyster case, the timepieces are waterproof to a depth of 100 metres. Crafted out of Oyster steel, they have corrosion resistant properties and can be expected to withstand most knocks. This is furthered by the hermetically sealed caseback and Twinlock winding crown which prevents any water entering.

The dials are given a Chromalight display which means the hands and hour markers are coated with luminescence which produces a long lasting blue glow. The Oyster Perpetual line guarantees chronometric precision, waterproof case and a self winding movement.

The watches are fixed onto your wrist via an Oyster bracelet. This was introduced in the 1930s and has become an essential bracelet for most Rolex lines. Made up of 3 links, this bracelet is locked in via an Oyster clasp and Easylink extension link.

The self winding movement is fitted with a perpetual rotor that allows the wearer to be the one to power the timepiece, simply by moving your wrist. The two calibres available are the 3230 and the 2232.

The 3230 calibre is associated with the 41mm and 36mm variants and yields a 70 hour power reserve alongside excellent precision and efficiency. The 2232 is fitted with Syloxi hairsprings for optimal chronometric performance.
