Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore “End of Days”

Originally released in 1993, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore End of Days has come a long way since its collaboration with the dire film ‘End of Days’. Sorry Arnie.

At 43mm in black ceramic, even the smallest elements like the pushers and caseback are crafted out of durable titanium. Following the design codes of the 1993 edition, this 2023 model is as black as a Black Hawk aside from a few bursts of yellow on the indices and tachymeter. The classic Mega Tapissiere dial design is out in full force, following a waffle style. Given creative direction by the man himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, stated “The watch is to be black, and I want yellow numbers“. Very detailed instruction, right?

Powered by the calibre 4401, the movement features a flyback function as well as a column wheel and vertical clutch to ensure a smooth second hand. Need we mention that even the movement is complete with a stunning Côtes de Genève finish.

Sized at 42mm and crafted out of stainless steel, the watch is complemented with a 60 minute scale which is composed of blue or black ceramic, depending on whether you go with the blue or black edition.

Featuring polished bevels with a stunning brushed finish, the case sets the scene for the beautiful dial face. In either blue or black sunray, the Arabic numerals on the dial are extremely legible and complemented by the raised flange. And boy, we do love a flange. Meanwhile, the bronzed hands and indices offer a vintage allure to the piece.

Powered by the L791.4 automatic, the movement is COSC certified and utilises a silicon balance spring and column wheel to promote accuracy, even in the face of adversity. Swatch x Omega Moonswatch Mission to Moonshine Gold

The Swatch x Omega Moonswatch Mission to Moonshine Gold was released 7th March 2023 after a flurry of adverts and campaigns, leading to queues outside Swatch stores and almost rioting! Oh and coffee flasks, deckchairs, tents and stools went through the roof as avid horophiles camped out. Wish I had that much time on my hands.

Omega Moonshine - Source - Resell Calendar

Now what makes this watch so exciting compared to its design predecessor, the 2019 Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 50th Anniversary? One little thing, Timelords. The classic Omega watch has its second hand coated in Omega’s very special moonshine gold concoction.

Following the exact design codes of the Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 50th Anniversary, the watch sizes up at 42mm in a Bioceramic case and subsequent black flourishes to compliment the gold. This is certainly a piece that got our pulses jumping! Mind you, we were tickled pink with the new edition of the Moonswatch

This was unveiled in April 2023 in Las Vegas with an all new, all singing chronograph seconds hand with wait for it…pink lume. Reiterating that each watch was produced under the full pink moon in the same month, there was even an accompanying certificate to guarantee authenticity. Who knows what Omega and Swatch will conjure up next but it might make us end up howling with laughter.

How Much Does a Swatch x Omega Moonswatch Mission To Moonshine Gold Cost?

You can buy an Omega Moonswatch Mission to Moonshine Gold at retail for around £248.

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Saint Laurent 01

Keeping the momentum of their Casquette 2.0 release in 2022, Girard Perregaux has decided to join forces with Saint Laurent to release a new customised model this year.

Casquette Saint Laurent - Source - Saint Laurent

Crafted out of grade 5 titanium and ceramic, the watch is built to be both extremely durable and light, perfect for a retro-futuristic watch. Its boxy construction is extremely ergonomic and unorthodox ensuring you stand out from the timekeeping crowd. A bit of a Marmite watch for us, it wouldn't look out of place in Dr Brown’s desk drawer!

Saint Laurent has updated the watch by adding some PVD treatment to the titanium aspects including the bracelet and have stamped their name on the case. This blackened rendition is powered by the GP3980-1474 quartz movement which runs the timing functions and ‘secret date’. As for style, keep it classic with a suave turtleneck or look tidy with a fresh black suit shirt.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Spiderman Watch

Stan Lee claxon alert. Marvel and Audemars Piguet first clasped hands in 2017, joining together two stunning brands from two different universes. Marvel and DC, anyone?

Royal Oak Spider-Man - Source - Audemars Piguet

After the subsequent success of the Royal Oak Concept Black Panther, the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Spider-Man” has flown onto the horological scene in all its masked glory. Measuring 42mm in diameter and crafted out of grade 5 titanium, it is finished using micro-blasting and polishing.

Of course, the main attraction is the red and blue Spider-Man figure taking centre stage on the dial. Taking 50 hours to create per figurine and built out of white gold, the entire piece is skeletonised, to boast the masked hero in a suspended 3-D effect. Need we mention the one off black Spider-Man version that sold for around £5 million?

Hublot Saxem ACT II

Looking like something Superman might be allergic to, the new Hublot Saxem ACT II comes in a translucent explosion of fluorescence. They call it Saxem apparently, a new hue created by the good folk over at Hublot. They really do push the boundaries of exotic materials and colourways don’t they?

Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Saxem Act II - Source - La Cote des Montres

Crafted out of SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminium Oxide and Rare Earth Mineral), it's the same material that’s used by satellites or lasers. Space age or what! The manufacturing process took three years to perfect and its subsequent completion is a first in horological circles. Truly cosmic.

In lime greens or lemon yellows, the colour is highly unusual but looks sublime. Powered by the HUB6035, the watch is self-winding and provides a mightily impressive 72 hour power reserve. Featuring a micro-rotor on the dial face and complemented by 3 sapphire bridges, the movement is as secure as it is stunning to look at.

TAG Heuer Monaco Skeleton Chronograph

The Monaco defines the TAG Heuer collection…in every shape and form. Worn by the greats like Steve Mcqueen and Cristiano Ronaldo, the celebrity clientele boasts wealth and luxury, attributable only to the classic TAG Heuer Monaco collection.

As such, it only makes sense that TAG Heuer added a little zest to the classic watch with a futuristic type upgrade to the Monaco. Measuring 39mm, the new TAG Heuer Monaco Skeleton Chronograph resolutely stays to its roots and follows the vintage stylings of its predecessors. The real change comes in the form of the new and sexy looking skeletonised dial.

In addition, the sub dials give added sharpness and more of a pronounced feature. The round seconds track gives a Bell & Ross feel of a circular dial in a squared case. It only makes sense that everything such as the hands, indexes and the date aperture is coated in luminescence to really get in with the futuristic vibe of the watch. Is it time to do the Timewarp again?

Ford Thunderbird - Source - Breitling

Measuring 41mm in a classic stainless steel build, these watches are finished to an exceptional degree on the bezel and case. Following on from the Top Time models of old, they feature a brushed finish on the case sides. Of course, there are a few differences for each watch.

Following the classic three sub dial construction at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock with a tachymetric scale which edge around the periphery of the face, the differences come in the colourways. The designs of their respective motors such as red and white for the Ford Thunderbird, green for the Ford Mustang, red for the Chevrolet Corvette, and blue and white for the Shelby Cobra.

Omega Seamaster Ploprof Summer Blue

Anyone who has any interest in the diving world will know all about the Omega Seamaster Ploprof due to its incredible 1,200 metres water resistance.

Ploprof - Source - Omega

As an extremely robust diving watch, this new novelty has just been unveiled in June 2023, marking 75 years of the Seamaster lineup. It is crafted out of O-MEGASTEEL which is a mighty big word to put in caps! It’s an alloy which is around 50% harder than the classic 316L steel that Omega employs and is capable of withstanding twice as much resistance as the standard material.

Featuring a sun-brushed dial, the design codes hark back to the original vintage edition from 1972. The bulbous crown guards remain, but there are a few updates to the former Ploprofl. The bezel ring is now crafted out of sapphire, replacing the classic monolithic crystal.

More durable and given a phenomenal level of transparency, the diving scale very clearly shines through. Measuring a mammoth 45.5mm on the wrist, slimmer wrists beware. Mind you, pair this with a crisp white shirt, sleek polo or neutral tones and you’ll no doubt create a big impression in the style stakes.

How Much Does An Omega Seamaster Ploprof Summer Blue Cost?

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze

Plunging to new depths of high quality watchmaking comes the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze. Hope they brought their snorkel…

BR 03-92 - Source - Bell & Ross

Crafted out of bronze, the case instantly has a few bonuses as opposed to the classic stainless steel. Bronze is non-ferrous, meaning that it won't corrode overly quickly. Fantastic for a dive watch, right? It naturally patina’s too, resulting in a complexion over time, allowing the model to be uniquely yours.

The opaline dial suits the bronze perfectly while the hands and indices are crafted out of rose gold which looks sublime against the dial. Powered by the BR-CAL 302, the model runs 28,800VpH and has a modest power reserve of 38 hours. Did we mention it's got 300 metres of water resistance tied up inside that beautiful body? Not quite Rolex Deepsea Challenge but sufficient for jet-skiing or windsurfing in sunny St. Lucia.

Kermit Oris Green Dial

Word of Sesame Street is that the Kermit Oris Green Dial is more than a gimmick.

Kermit - Source - Oris

Crafted out of titanium and measuring 39mm, the model is already exceptionally light. The lugs and case are chamfered, offering a highly modern design. Of course, this isn't what originally piqued your interest so let's get to the point.

Kitted out with a bright Kermit style green dial, the sapphire caseback is stamped with “Kermit edition” as an ode to our swamp friend who has been dominating our telly screens for the best part of half a century. Based at 6 o’clock housed within a date aperture, Kermit is showcased IN all his cheesy glory replacing number 1. What a way to bring in a new month! Just don’t tell Miss Piggy where he is concealed.

Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon

Following the Traditionelle’s revered past, Vacheron Constantin released the Traditionnelle Tourbillon with a new colour at Watches and Wonders 2023. And we all know what that was…green!

Traditionnelle Tourbillon Sunburst Dial - Source - Vacheron Constantin

Built to be 41mm, the model is unmistakably… green. As on trend as slimmer watches and the Renaissance in yellow gold novelties, the dial is stunning olive green. Subject to galvanic treatment and bursting forth from a platinum case, the dial features white gold hands and indices, linking well with the high-end platinum casing.

The tourbillon located at 6 o’clock is skeletonised and adds an avant-garde feature to the classic circular design of the Traditionelle. This matches the skeletonised caseback which houses the calibre 2160/1 which runs at 18,000VpH and has a power reserve of 80 hours. Equipped with a green alligator strap, better make it snappy if you want to grab one.

Tudor Pelagos 39

The Tudor Pelagos was originally launched in 2012, alongside the Black Bay. That’s a tough brother to compete with.

Tudor Pelagos 39 - Source - Tudor

Introduced in 2023 The Tudor Pelagos 39 no longer has this competition. Trimmed down from 42mm to 39mm, the piece reinvents the need for bulkiness in dive watches. Crafted out of the highly durable grade 2 titanium, the watch is satin-brushed, resulting in a mirror like finish.

Boasting the MT5400 movement, the timepiece is COSC certified and runs at a much better rate of -2/+4 seconds per day. Running at 4Hz and with an excellent power reserve of 70 hours, the timepiece is a sleek piece that isn't limited to its diving functionality. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self Winding 15550BA

There’s something about a turquoise dial which just turns horophiles a tad crazy. And we can clearly see why.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self Winding Ref. 15550BA - Source - Audemars Piguet

At 37mm and crafted out of yellow gold, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self Winding 15550BA imbues rarity and the upper echelons of luxury throughout. In terms of the dial, where is the classic Tapisserie dial that the Royal Oak collection is famed for?

Well, Audemars Piguet has sacked it off for something even more exciting. The dial is made out of a turquoise stone which has been subjected to a few finishes like polishing and sandblasting. Do we even need to say that each turquoise dial is absolutely unique to one another? The classic octagonal dial and eight screws is there, relating to the heritage of the Royal Oak collection.

The hands and indices are also gold, standing out superbly against the rich turquoise dial colour. Mind you there is a touch of the Patek Tiffany 5711 dial going on here (Ed Sheeran owns one) that maybe AP were looking at here. The jury is out.

Zenith Defy Extreme Glacier

Hope you’ve packed your winter coats for this beauty. Stay icy cool this summer with the fabulous Defy Extreme Glacier. There is no frosty reception here for this pioneering timepiece.

Zenith Defy Extreme Glacier - Source - Zenith

At 45mm of luxurious titanium, the Zenith Defy Extreme Glacier first flexes its style with a precious stone named chalcedony on the protective pushers and bezel. Chalcedony is unique in its design when cut and polished, offering a frosty hue of blues and grey, perfect for the icy nature of the timepiece.

The sapphire crystal and subdials are given a slightly icy glaze, pertaining to the idea that you are seeing through a thin sheet of ice at the skeletonised dial. How does this grab you? The El Primero 21 Calibre 9004 movement offers both 5Hz and 50Hz for two functions and runs at 1/100th of a second. Originating from 1969, this is the Rolls Royce of automatic chronograph movements and is highly talked about in timepiece circles.

This means that the timekeeping aspect runs at 36,000VpH while the chronograph escapement runs at 360,000VpH. Hold onto your hats, Timelords!

The bezel is blue in keeping with the ‘Summer Blue’ aesthetic Omega prioritises. Crafted out of ceramic and featuring a Grand Feu enamel finish, the diving scale is extremely legible. Featuring an AOPA logo at 12 o’clock as an ode to their flying heritage, look closely at the slide rule to find the words ‘Boeing 747’.

Taste the rainbow? No thanks, I’ll wear one instead.

Hublot MP-09 - Source - Hublot

Crafted out of the same stuff they use in F1, the 49mm carbon timepiece is lightweight and extremely tough. The rainbow design has been created through a vast list of coloured graduation inserts. This means a whole horde of shades has been created, resulting in a watchmaking first.

The matte black dial has two very unusual semi-circles referring to the date. The HUB9009.H1.RA movement is skeletonised and can run for a stunning 120 hours and is made up of a whopping 356 components. That’s enough time to enjoy a luxury weekend escape and still have enough horological gas in the tank.

Richard Mille RM66 Flying Tourbillon Rock’n’Roll

When the Rolling Stones sang ‘It’s only Rock’n’Roll but I like it’, we can only imagine Richard Mille doing air guitar when he was working on the Richard Mille RM66 Flying Tourbillon Rock’n’Roll.

RM66 - Source - Richard Mille

At 42mm, the blacked out tonneau case is crafted from grade 5 titanium, as well as the bridges and baseplates. Suffice to say, you’d need a tank to damage this beast. The main attraction is plain as day on the dial.

The “devil horn” hand gesture is thrusting out as if saying, ‘I wanna rock!’ (thanks twisted sister). Created by engraving genius Olivier Vaucher, he created the hand from 5N red gold and used a process of micro-blasting to define every aspect of the hand, down to the bone contours. Props to Monsieur Vaucher indeed.

Powered by the ETA A31.L91 calibre, the timepiece offers a 25,200VpH beat and a reliable 72 hours power reserve. Plenty of time to hobnob it with your friends on a wedding weekend abroad. The matt black dial promotes the 3D Arabic numerals and the expansive bezel draws the eyes in immediately.

Ingenieur 40 Automatic - Source - IWC

At 40mm, the IWC Ingenieur is crafted out of titanium and sets a perfect steely scene for the dial. This particular edition has a grey backdrop with the squares alternating between light grey and dark grey squares.

The calibre 32111 runs at 120 hours and pounds the pavement at a respectable 4Hz. Not bad for a collection that's older than the Nautilus and Royal Oak!

Calatrava 6007G - Source - Patek Philippe

Patek Philippe has started a new mission, yet can we modernise the older models? The Calatrava 6007G is 40mm and crafted from white gold. Given a polished finish, the timepiece is sublime in its construction. There are only a couple of jolts of yellow on the minute track and seconds hand. The strap is also black and features yellow stitching, correlating perfectly with the dial.

The 26-330 SC calibre pumps out 28,800VpH of solid frequency and is accompanied by a solid 45 hours of power reserve. The dial on the watch still has its classical circular case shape but it's given a jolt of life through the bright colour scheme.

Daytona Cosmograph Le Mans - Source - Rolex

Crafted out of 18K white gold, the new Rolex Daytona 126529LN is already given a horological dose of luxury in comparison with its traditional steely and sporty exterior. Fitted with a standard Cerachrom bezel in a stunning black ceramic hue, the tachymetric scale references the 100th anniversary of the Le Mans race through highlighting the ‘100’ on the bezel in red ceramic. Oh this baby has Paul Newman written all over it. Exotic dial fans pay attention!

The dial is pitch black, allowing the bright white indices, hands and sub counters to be clearly distinguished. How about we stick a transparent caseback on this beauty too so we can peer at the stunning movement? H.Moser & Cie Streamliner Centre Seconds Smoked Salmon

Who says stainless steel can't be classy?

H.Moser & Cie Streamliner, Source: H. Moser & Cie

At 40mm and finished with a matte styling that undergoes satin brushing, the case of The new H.Moser & Cie Streamliner Centre Seconds Smoked Salmon is refined and fits in with the pure elegance of the bracelet. Looking like something emanating from Doctor Octopus, the bracelet is smooth and beautiful when adorned with the case.

The stunning smoky salmon dial is the real work of art however. Puts me in the mood for a few canapes all washed down with lashings of champagne. Utilising the design technique of fumé, the dial features lighter colours towards the centre of the face, while the periphery of the dial graduates to black.

Want another fancy word? The griffé dial is complemented with vertical brushing, allowing the silvery Globolight filled hour and minute hands to clearly stand out. Who needs text when you have such simple opulence?

Powered by the HMC 200, the watch is given a Straumann hairspring to ensure its precision. Pumping at a hardy beat of 21,600VpH and given a solid 72 hour power reserve, this watch is ready for anything from get up and go, lazing around on that sun lounger or that late to work rush!

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition

Everyone likes a first and Girard-Perregaux has been making waves with their first ever green ceramic case and bracelet.

Laureato Aston Martin - Source - Girard-Perregaux

Linking both worlds of racing and horology (nope we have had enough of the Daytona for now) Aston Martin have their tyre tracks all over the new Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition. So it’s time to get a firm grip of what lies under the horological bonnet.

Their emblematic colour of green is a strong source of inspiration for this model. As such, the dial, bracelet and case are given a very apt British Racing Green colour scheme in different hues.

Ceramic is a clever choice from the horological brand. There’s a reason why it's been used throughout the watch. On the surface, its scratch resistance and first-rate durability compare equally with its stunning ability to just look fantastic. Not enough? It’s hypoallergenic and is unaffected by UV rays or temperature changes. Any more and I might have to write a book!

The new novelty chooses simple elegance over ostentatious design. Slight curvature from the lugs to the case allows the piece to smoothly transition. The bezel is rather sharp and adds a new dimension to the model. Complemented with skeletonized baton hands atop a cross hatch dial background, it oozes subtle quality. It’s a big tick from us, Timelords.

Powered by the Calibre GP01800, the movement undergoes circular graining on the main plate and various Côtes de Genève finishes on the bridges and oscillating plate. 54 hours of power reserve is a tidy feature, especially when matched with a 28,800VpH.
