John Mayer’s Watches Are A Horological Who’s Who Of The Timekeeping World
Updated January 2024
Hold on tight, Timelords. We are going to go Free Fallin straight into John Mayer’s watch collection. And boy this is going to be an epic timekeeping journey that Bill and Ted would want to be a part of. The man himself is typically known for his fantastic musical ability, but did you know he is a hardcore horophile?
Considered one of the biggest A-game collectors in the industry today, (he is after all owner of the elusive Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41mm with a bubble dial), we grant he has had a number of tracks that have already seen the Gravity star achieve critical and commercial acclaim. With tracks like Daughters, which won Grammy Award for Song Of The Year in 2005, a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2007 named Continuum and a host of other Grammy and MTV Awards, the Connecticut songwriters' success can’t be overstated enough.
John Mayer has built up a great reputation as a music legend, as well as a timepiece aficionado. However, this time round, we are here to shed light on the best watches in his collection. Expansive, extensive and expansive, his unbridled enthusiasm for timekeeping (and his endless bank balance) has kept him buying the best watches in the horological universe, and kept us lost in “Gravity” (pun intended!).
Incredibly, he has a collection that's worth around a cool £31 million…as of December 2023. Accounting for around 25% of John Mayer’s net worth, we may have pension pots, but this guy has a stack of precious luxury watches to sink a ship…perhaps a hundred ships, gleaming Lambos or F1 inspired vintage cars.
Our friends over at Celebs Watch Spotter hold similar views to Mayer’s extensive timepiece collection. In their article, John Mayer Watch Collection, they noted that “The New York Times estimated that John Mayer’s collection of watches holds a collective value in the tens of millions”. Well, got a few coins for us, John
The music man has gone from buying a Rolex Explorer II with his first paycheck, to perhaps one of the most exclusive and sought after collections of all time. Celebrating every kind of major luxury brand by owning either spanking new pieces or long since discontinued timepieces, Chrono Hunter is all prepped to take a deep dive into the best luxury timepieces in John Mayer’s collection.
Take a second to grab a macchiato, double espresso or Singapore Sling. We are just getting started.

Rolex Daytona 6269
John Mayer may not have the same “Slowhand” nickname as Eric Clapton, but they both have exceptionally discerning tastes when it comes to gold Rolex watches and their illustrious value
Source - Christies
John Mayer has been linked with a number of Rolex Daytona watches stemming from the incredibly well known “Paul Newman” variations, to the very exciting reference 6269. We hope he’s been learning French as this was made solely for the French market! Fitted with French hallmarks on the case, the rarity of the pieces boom as they are located solely in France.
While this reference may not have the actor's name strapped to it like a barnacle on a bronze ship or the Deepsea Challenge, flexed by James Cameron while venturing down to the Mariana Trench, it does have enough selling power of its own accord. Why, we hear you ask? Let’s take a look!
Forget IWC with their all lumed up Black Aces dial. This is a totally different card out of the timekeeping deck…with added vigour. Nicknamed the “Jack of Diamonds”, this reference is one of the most highly regarded references across the Daytona’s collection, especially when considering the yellow gold variants.
Incorporating a number of other iconic emblems, none more so than the back which is a treasure trove of highly lauded features. This includes a French gold “owl” and a Rolex importation stamp, reading “Sté*R'' which stands for “Société Rolex” on the back of the piece. There is emblazoned “CRS” which reads the initials of the case maker, Charles-René Spielmann.
The bezel is equipped with 48 diamonds and runs alongside the face which is pavé-set with a total of 240 round white diamonds. Not enough? The hour markers are fitted with 9 sapphires for the hour indexes. The three chronograph sub-counters at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock take up three spots and feature a beautiful gold guilloche finish with polished chapter rings.
They are fitted with a 18K yellow gold bracelet that features riveted links and a deployant clasp that is similarly fitted with the Rolex France logo and the Société Rolex emblem. Last time a Rolex Daytona 6269 went up for sale was in 2022 where it sold for around £1.45 million at a Christie’s auction.
Rolex Daytona 116508 ‘John Mayer’
Perhaps the doyenne when it comes to discontinued watches. Imagine being so intertwined with The Rolex Daytona that your own name get’s attached to a reference? Well John Mayer has this one with his name written all over it!
Source - Christie’s
The musician waxed lyrical on this particular reference following a chat on a popular watch platform. After John Mayer’s laudatory comments, this specific timepiece rocketed in value. Suffice to say, they are even more valuable now that they have been discontinued since this year, bumping up rarity and value higher than the Burj Khalifa.
That being said, gold watches have alway been popularised. In fact, gold in jewellery is a major player in the precious metal industry as a study showed that gold jewellery held the largest market share at a value of around £147.4 billion in 2022. Maybe John Mayer is onto something…
The Daytona reference 116508 is fitted with the classic yellow gold Daytona case. Wrapped around the bezel is a tachymetric scale and the right hand size is fitted with two pushers and a crown to navigate the chronograph functionality. They are fitted with a green face that's given a majestic sunburst finish. This allows light to be cast and illuminate the dial, extending from a rich, British Racing Green shade to a minty olive sheen.
They are powered by the excellent 4130 calibre which has an incredibly accurate +2/-2 second daily deviation and a weekend-proof 72 hour power reserve. Moreover, they are Superlative Chronometer certified, boasting the power of the models.
You can no longer buy a Rolex Daytona 116508 at retail as it’s been discontinued. However, it sells on the secondary market for upwards of £55,000 as of December 2023.
Rolex Daytona Rainbow 116598RBOW
The Daytona may have started off as an out and out luxury sports watch, but we can safely say that it’s expanded into the realms of high end refinery.
Source - Christie’s
Released in 2012, the watch references were made both out of yellow gold and white gold. Locked into an 18K white gold casing, there are diamonds that run along the top of the crown guards and the lugs. They make up around 56 brilliant cut diamonds across the middle of the piece.
That’s not all! The dial is given a black lacquer sheen and white gold speck sub-counters that are given a hammered centre and chapter ring. The hour markers are similarly locked in with eight diamond hour markers. The other hour markers are made up of a Rolex logo at 12 o’clock and Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock.
Fitted with a bezel that's covered in 36 colourful baguette cut sapphires in rainbow graduations, stemming from red hues at 12 o’clock to a lighter yellow at 4 o’clock. Made in exceptionally low supply due to the quality of the craftsmanship and the artisanal build of the watches, the supply in this case is vastly exceeded by the demand. But of course this doesn’t matter for the King of collectors, John Mayer who has this firmly in his collection.
Since the Rolex Daytona Rainbow 116598RBOW is so rare, there are very few occasions where we see them up for sale. A recent watch sold at a Christie’s auction in 2023 for around £298,000.
Rolex Daytona Le Mans
John Mayer picks up and flexes fresh Rolex Daytonas as fast as Jesse James pulls out his pistols.
Source - Rolex Magazine
Initially released in June 2023 to celebrate 100 years of the Le Mans event, The Rolex Daytona Le Mans was first spotted at a show in Salt Lake, Utah. John Mayer proudly celebrated the model like how he does at an award show…and with very good reason!
Crafted out of 18K white gold, they offer a luxurious feel to an intensely sporty timepiece. Perhaps the most integral part of that watch is the fantastic Cerachrom bezel that’s fitted with white engravings.
The tachymetric scale is a key part of the collection's identity. The bezel goes as far back to the original release in 1965 that was made up of a black plexiglass insert. Time has marched on like Rolex’s technical prowess, resulting in a fresh, monobloc Cerachrom material.
The heritage of the piece links to the “100” number which sits loud and proud on the tachymetric scale. Filled in red ceramic, it pays homage to the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. While this may just be a miniscule adaptation, it’s enough to celebrate the legacy and energetic racing spirit of the Le Mans race.
The dial is black and features three white chronograph subdials positioned at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. Supported by a Chromalight display, the dials boast a highly legible blue glow throughout. They are 40mm of white gold and have a screw-down, triplock winding crown, designed to support the 100 metres of water resistance.
They are secured onto an Oyster bracelet, locked in with a folding Oysterclasp safety clasp and an Easylink extension link. Powered by the 4132 movement, these watches have a power reserve of 72 hours and a Superlative Chronometer certification, entitling them to -2/+2 seconds variance per day. Plus it’s perfect to accompany you on that all important business trip with the boss or weekend getaway with your other half to Cannes.
You can buy a Rolex Daytona Le Mans at retail for £43,300 as of December 2023.
Rolex Daytona 6263 Paul Newman - Lemon
You know it’s a horological match in heaven when one of the biggest names in music and watch collecting gets his hands on…one of the biggest actors associated with watches of all time!
Source - Christie’s
So, how did Paul Newman get souped up with the Daytona references: 6239, 6241, 6262, 6264, 6363 and 6265.
The Hollywood A-Lister actually received his first Rolex Daytona from wife Joanne Woodward as a gift. Boasting the words “DRIVE CAREFULLY ME” engraved on the case back as a memento to his love of driving and as a word of warning for his racing role in the film “Winning”.
Newman regularly wore the timepiece with an exotic dial that is made up of a triple-coloured face with a step styling, sub-counters that boast Art Deco numerals and square indexes. Paul Newman’s obsession with the watch got picked up by an Italian magazine and spurred on the subsequent frenzy for the models.
There are only three publicly known examples of the 18K Yellow Gold Paul Newman 6263 that houses a lemon face. Surprisingly, it was assumed that no variations of the yellow gold piece with screw-down chronograph pushers had any Oyster Lemon Paul Newman faces. Well, wonder no more!
The lemon nickname relates to the beautiful yellow hue that sits on the background of the face. Considering the standard was white or champagne, the yellow variance stands alone in its unorthodoxy. And if you want to get up close and personal with this unique accent, it’s about time you looked below;
Utilising very prominent black sub counters and a fantastic black minute track, the 6263 are seamless with the instantly recognisable black tachymetric scale. This takes its cues from the original 6240 reference that boasted screw down pushers and the black bezel. Due to their insurmountable rarity, there are very few instances where they have sold. However, one such model was auctioned off at a Philipps auction in 2017 for a cool £3.3 million.
Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A - 014
The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A - 014 was originally released in 2021 as a replacement of the then discontinued 5711/1A-010 which had a fantastic blue and black dial. Of course John Mayer lapped this up for his collection. Here, the real prize was the Patek x Tiffany & Co 5711 which boasted the iconic jewellery makers dial and was released shortly after. The relationship began in 1851 when Antoine Norbert de Patek met with Charles Lewis Tiffany to represent his watches in New York. A little more productive than John Mayer and Taylor Swift's relationship!
That being said, don’t think this piece is a cheap interpretation! Far from it.
Source - Christie’s
Following the classic design codes of the Nautilus, the octagonal bezel is made up of two ears on either side of the stainless case. With a case diameter of 40mm, it is capable of reaching 120 metres of water resistance and like a tailored Savile Row suit is finessed within an inch of its existence with brushing and polishing in order to attain a beautiful sheen throughout.
Given a forest green face, the sheen is incredibly subtle, moving away from the gimmicky hues of the Oris Kermit that caused quite a stir at Watches and Wonders 2023, or the brighter Rolex Submariner Hulk timepieces. Named “Olive-Green” by Patek Philippe, the face continues the legacy of etched horizontal lines that cut across the face of the dial.
The interplay between light and dark are exemplified by the lines, it allows different facets of the dial to be lit up depending on where the source of light is based. There’s a tidy date aperture situated at 3 o’clock which fits in with the lume filled baton hour markers and rounded hands.
Home to the Calibre 26-330 SC, a movement that’s been behind the incredible Nautilus collection since 2019, this timepiece offers 28,800VpH, or 4Hz, supported by a Spiromax balance spring and a Gyromax balance. This makes it as precise as a finely tuned Ferrari. Classified as the last production year of the stainless steel 5711/1A, the reference has swiftly become more of a cult model than Linda Evangelista. Plus, folks like John Mayer love nothing more than flexing a grail piece when on stage.
You can no longer buy a Patek Philippe 5711/1A - 014 at retail, but you can purchase it on the secondary market for upwards of £220,000 (as of December 2023.)
Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3970EJ
John Mayer is always keen to flex the good and the great of the timekeeping world. In fact he seems to understand the investment potential of a brand more than Warren Buffet (a keen fan of the Rolex Date-Date in yellow gold).
He has a lineup of astounding vintage pieces that would tickle any enthusiast pink like The Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3970EJ is another striking addition to John Mayer's iconic watch collection.
Source - Christie’s
Released in 1986, the reference only saw the light of day for around 20 years. However, the Perpetual Calendar collection has touched horology a lot longer. Originally part of Patek’s portfolio in 1941 through the reference 1518, the complication remains as a regular addition to their collection to this day.
Crafted in a 36mm yellow gold case, they follow the eternally stylish circular design that has dominated dress pieces since the 1932 Calatrava! Fitted with a gorgeous opaline velouté dial, there are a number of complications such as the French day and month in apertures at 12 o’clock.
Other complications include a moon phase at 6 o’clock, a 30 minute counter and a leap year indicator at 3 o’clock. We thoroughly love the addition of a day/night indicator based at 9 o’clock. Incorporating sharp, sword shaped hands, the watch is beautifully designed and keeps things looking exceptionally clean like a Monday morning shave, ready for the day ahead. Is this the best a man can get? Well, it does cut like a knife through butter in terms of smoothness.
Residing in the PP Perpetual Calendar is the Calibre CH 27-70 Q. This is rather interesting as it represented the change from Valjoux movements to the highly regarded Lemania 2310 ébauche movement. Given an added perpetual calendar feature and a few of Patek Philippe’s magical touches, the calibre is beautifully finished with Geneva striping and decoration. John Mayer opts for a gorgeous brown strap to add a finishing vintage allure touch to the timepiece.
You can buy a Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3970EJ on the secondary market for upwards of £106,000 as of December 2023.
Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time 5164A
We know that John Mayer loves his vintage Patek Philippe watches. But, did you know he is a diehard fan of the newer models? Of course he is!
Source - Christie’s
The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time 5164A is another feather in the ever evolving Aquanaut cap. When it was released in 1997, it represented a deviation away from the classical stylings of the Calatrava collection.
The cases deviated away from circular constructions and instead prided themselves on octagons and a grenade style finish that was both interesting and instantly drew in the wearer. That’s not all. The strap deviated away from leather or a steel bracelet, instead opting for a tropical strap that was made of a composite material to combat salt water and UV radiation.
Crafted out of steel, the reference 5164A features a screw down crown and a sapphire back. Built into a 10.2mm high watch with a diameter of 40.8mm, it has 120 metres of water resistance and a power reserve of 45 hours.
Understated and elegant, it is given a black background and the same grenade finish as their predecessors. Yet, we don’t need Bruno Mars to sell this watch. The embossed face is a fantastic addition as it draws out the steely Arabic numerals and minute track. In addition to this, there is a small globe embossment that's present in the complication at 6 o’clock.
The watches are powered by the Calibre 26-330 S C FUS. Composed of 290 parts, they offer a 45 hour power reserve, a 28,800VpH frequency and support in the form of a Spiromax and Gyromax within the movement which runs the dual time zone mechanism. This gives reference to the home and away time via an extra, skeletonised GMT hand.
You can buy a Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time 5164A at retail for £34,290 (as of December 2023.)
Audemars Piguet
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition 15601BC
If you happen to win the lottery and are looking to treat a music fanatic, we recommend you look for the eye-catching Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition 15601BC. At least you know you’re on it if John Mayer has a model!
Source - Audemars Piguet
Coming in at 43mm, these watches are crafted in the classical Royal Oak design that has remained as consistent as Gordon Ramsay’s 3 star Michelin starred restaurant in Chelsea since its inception in 1972 at The Basel Watch Fair.
Created by highly lauded designer, Gerald Genta, you can expect only but the greatest horological hits surrounding pioneering design and timeless looks adored by anyone looking to buy an Audemars Piguet...or The Nautilus, IWC Ingenieur and Omega Constellation for that matter.
The bezel is octagonal and designed with multi-colored gemstones that run from red to blue. They are supported by a sapphire crystal and back, ensuring maximum legibility throughout. The jewel fun doesn't stop there. Cast your eyes across the face to see another array of fascinating gemstones that instantly capture the eyes of the world. Designed to mimic a VU metre, they vary from a blue base to the “good” zone of green, near the bottom of the dial, and the “clipping stage” of red near the top of the face.
The hour markers are made of chunky batons with a run of luminescence throughout their centre. They are complimented by the Royal Oak Offshore hands that are also coated with a streak of luminescence. The watches are powered by the Calibre 4309 which offers a 70 hour power reserve and a 4Hz frequency. They are locked in with a blue rubber strap and secured by a white gold AP folding clasp.
You can buy an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition 15601BC at retail upon price request (as of December 2023.)
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie Titanium
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie has seen a slew of shades, including a burgundy and a black sheen. However, John Mayer’s heart lies with the sleek blue dial variation that was released in 2019, but has since been discontinued.
Source - Ineichen Auctions
His watch is sized up at 42mm and crafted out of titanium which for us is the perfect choice for this luxury-sports watch with bags of durability and feather touch appearance on the wrist. This gives the flexer the chance to add a bit of panache to his wardrobe while shaking hands with the CEO.
At around 14mm thickness, they may not have the best water resistance of 20 metres, but you aren't buying this for the diving capability. You are making this purchase to style it out like John Mayer would in his dressy brogues!
If you can get past the beauty of the case, we implore you to shift your eyes to the gorgeous smoked blue face. Showcasing a Grande Tapisserie pattern that’s made up of a checkerboard of small squares, the dials feature white, applied gold hour markers and Royal Oak hands with a luminescent coating.
The bracelet is integrated with the casing and is secured with an AP folding clasp. However, you can also opt for a blue alligator strap if that gets your gears rolling. We know that our hearts lie with the timeless integrated build!
Powered by the Calibre 2959 and providing a minute repeater as well as hours, minutes and small seconds, the movement is fitted with 32 jewels and has a strong power reserve of 72 hours and a 21,600VpH.
Capped at just 20 watches (which it boldly claims on the solid back) you will struggle to get your hands on such a piece. However, you can source them on the secondary market for upwards of £350,000 (as of December 2023.)
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar White Ceramic 26579CB
We know that the Royal Oak was introduced in steel, eventually earning it the name of the most expensive steel watch in the market. Now, Audemars Piguet has experimented and found that materials stemming from platinum to ceramic still allow the collection to shine brightly. Gleaming like John Mayer’s trophy cabinet, let’s get into the details!
Source - Christie’s
While it’s IWC that have been integral in releasing the first ceramic watches, Audemars Piguet have similarly achieved an outstanding heritage in utilising ceramic throughout their pieces. This includes releasing models in blue and black ceramic.
John Mayer has opted for a snow white ceramic option. Built out of hand-finished white ceramic, these timepieces feature a number of complications, including astronomical moon, week of the year and a leap year indication!
The faces are covered by a sapphire crystal that is glareproofed on both sides. That allows for maximum legibility and visibility at all times. Totalling 20 metres of water resistance, these watches are protected with a screw down crown so pesky drops of water can enter.
The dial is given a blue background and finished with a fantastic Grande Tapisserie pattern. Featuring silver toned counters at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, they are highly legible against the spectacular dial. The hour markers are white gold and applied in keeping with the equally beautiful Royal Oak hands that similarly have a luminescent coating.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar White Ceramic are locked in with a white ceramic and secured by an AP folding clasp that's made from blackened polished steel.
Powered by the Calibre 5134, it runs the perpetual calendar with a week indication, day, date, astronomical moon, month, leap year not to mention the hour and minutes. They offer a modest power reserve of 40 hours which is nothing to write home about with a fairly average frequency of 19,800 VpH. But we will let John Mayer off this time as these watches speak for themselves.
You can buy an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar White Ceramic 26579CB on the secondary market for upwards of £220,000 (as of December 2023.)
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph 26587TI
Be it writing emotional songs about ex’s or heartfelt tunes about the meaning of life, John Mayer is as complex as the Grandmaster Chime 6300G. When it comes to watches, he follows the same style as his lyrics… intricate and oh so detailed!
Source - Audemars Piguet
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph 26587TI follows one of the first Royal Oak Concept selfwinding models since the collection's introduction in 2002. It boasts a complex chronograph mechanism with expert finishing through the platinum oscillating weight and movement.
The watch itself is crafted out of titanium and undergoes a sandblasted finish for that extra textured feel you horophiles love. The sapphire crystal is glareproofed on the front and the back, allowing for optimal vision at all times. Crafted in the same octagonal bezel, the iconic 8 hex screws are secured in, alongside the black ceramic push pieces, screw-down locked crown and sandblasted titanium push piece guards.
If you can get past the pioneering use of titanium, we reckon you should cast your eyes to the skeletonised face. Showcasing two bridges along 12 and 6 o’clock with two jewels in the centre of both, there is also a 30-minute counter white indication at 3 o’clock, openworked white gold hands and a black inner bezel with blue transfers.
Just how complex is this piece? Well, the Calibre 2949 features a sea of features, including a tourbillon, chronograph, hours, minutes, 30-minute counter, second counter and minute counter. Featuring a total of 34 jewels, the self-winding calibre totals 391 components and has a 65 hour power reserve and a 21,600VpH. Here, John Mayer goes for a white rubber strap which looks very tidy alongside the minimalism of the face.
You can buy an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph 26587TI on the secondary market for upwards of £175,000 (as of December 2023.)
Honourable Mentions
IWC Big Pilot 5002
IWC may not carry the same luxury prestige as Rolex, Audemars Piguet or Patek Philippe, but legendary collectors like John Mayer know about the rich heritage that surrounds the back of the watches. After all, he is to collecting what Elton John is to music…a true icon in his field.
Source - Christie’s
In particular, the IWC 5002 is a highly regarded model from the eclectic Big Pilot collection. The Big Pilot collection informally started in 1940 when IWC released around 1000 military navigators watches. Oversized and given one of a kind dials, their name derived from when IWC introduced a new automatic movement in 2002.
Named the Big Pilot's Watch, the 5002 was a prime example of the collection. As bulky as a Rockefeller Christmas Tree, they had a diameter of 46.2mm and a dial design that was highly reminiscent of the 1940 piece…but with the added bonus of a mind blowing 8 day power reserve.
As part of the original Big Pilot collection, there were only a few variations released, totalling a few steel and two platinum versions. There was a new transitional model in 2006 which ran faster, but our heart firmly lies with the classic 5002!
At the time, the 5002 was a highly cutting edge timepiece that featured a spectacular movement alongside a simple yet highly legible dial. Perhaps the most famous aviator watch of all time, the watches are 15mm thick due to the big back in order to ensure anti-magnetism.
The large back actually allows the oversized crown to hang just over the wrist instead of digging into the flesh on your wrist. The combination of a black background with white, highly legible Arabic numerals allows for maximum legibility.
You can buy an IWC Big Pilot 5002 at retail for upwards of £6,000 (as of December 2023.)
Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM00127
The Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM00127 has a bit of an obscure nickname. Named “Fiddy”, the nickname is allegedly derived from hip-hop star 50 Cent who is publicly referred to as the “Fifty”, but pronounced like “Fiddy”. This makes sense considering the watch itself is named the “1950”.
Sorry, John Mayer. There’s no nickname for you just yet!
Source - Christie’s
It’s understood that around 1,950 pieces of the Panerai Luminor 1950 were released in 2002 to celebrate the vintage watches produced for the Italian Navy. The watches are made out of the highly durable material, stainless steel, and are sized at a gigantic 47mm.
The Panerai watches are built into a sandwich style dial that is further combined by a large crown guard and a domed sapphire crystal that wraps over the entirety of the dial's face. This is a direct correlation to the very first edition that was released way back in 1950 at the dawn of the Cold War and the commencement of the Korean War.
The dials are made up of Arabic numerals situated at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, as well as baton indices between each of them. The hands are made of rose gold and are sword shaped, just like the hand within the small seconds complication at 9 o’clock.
Landing yourself such a gorgeous vintage timepiece is usually quite difficult, especially when associated with a nickname and in such limited supply.
You can buy a Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM00127 on the secondary market for upwards of £8,700 (as of December 2023.)
Conclusion
Crikey Mr. Mayer! Boasting a plethora of premium luxury watches that run as far as the glorious Patek Philippe Nautilus to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
From the beauty of the Royal Oak with its exceptional octagonal design and 8 visible screws, John Mayer knows the importance of lineage and modernity. That explains the funky Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition 15601BC! However, he also reads the market like a seasoned connoisseur, including the brilliance of the Rolex Daytona 6263 Paul Newman - Lemon. Its associations with the great actor, unorthodox yellow dial and precious metal build are only a few reasons as to why it's so sought after.
We understand. Trying to choose your top three watches from John Mayer’s epic collection is enough to send any enthusiast into a frenzy. Let's also not be fooled into thinking our list is all there. Below are a few more releases which get us as Chrono Hunter HQ hot under the collar:
