1. Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase - Green Dial
Can you imagine if this rocked up under your Christmas tree?
The Longines Flagship line is just as awe-inspiring and industry leading as the name indicates. First introduced in 1957, it has since evolved to feature a complex moon-phase indicator, alongside being one of the best dress watches in the current industry for its price bracket.
Source - Longines
For less than £5,000 this is a strong contender. Just wait until you see the festive dial!
At 38.50mm x 12.40mm they are polished across the board, including the bezel, lugs and the case sides. Composed of stainless steel, they are fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal over the top, which is completely glare proof, allowing you to easily look without being impeded.
The screw-down caseback is a nice addition, especially since it boasts a golden flagship emblem, blue background and golden ring expressing the “Longines” title. Sure, the 30 metres of water resistance isn’t great, so don't indulge in a little ice skating on any cracks!
For the dial, we have a fabulous Christmas tree green shade with an enhanced sunray finish. Allowing the applied indexes and silvered polished hands to be clearly displayed. Finished with Swiss Super-Luminova, the dials are highly legible in all circumstances.
At 6 o’clock is an additional moon-phase indicator. Given a date ring on the periphery of the aperture, the blue night sky allows the silver moon and the stars to be displayed. While you may not be particularly interested in tracking the moon, we’ll see to lighting up the sky with this beautiful, contrasting aesthetic.
Beating a better rhythm than the little drummer boy, the Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase is fitted with the spectacular automatic L899 calibre. Fitted with a silicon balance spring, the models offer a 25,200VpH and a sturdy 72 hour power reserve.
You can buy a Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase at retail for £2,950 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Solid power reserve
- Refined dial for range of situations
- Tasteful moon-phase added complication
2. Longines Hydroconquest GMT L3.790.4.06.6
The Hydroconquest collection was introduced by Longines in 2007 and quickly became a Longines out and out dive collection.
Source - Brand’s Site
The watch is crafted entirely out of stainless steel and comes in at 41mm. Featuring a solid screw down back and a screw-in crown, the Hydroconquest GMT is capable of reaching 300 metres of water resistance. Ideal for those jaunty jet skiers or deep-sea divers.
Featuring a sapphire crystal that boasts anti-reflective coating on both sides of the crystal, the 12.90mm thick watch is rather bulky, but does this in order to attain its fantastic dive capabilities.
Surrounded by a black, unidirectional ceramic bezel which features a 60 minute graduation diving scale, is that the smells of trees and hanging wreaths? Oh yes, it’s a beautiful green face!
Featuring a 24 hour track on the inside of the bezel, this links in with the extra GMT hour hand. Given a sunray green face with applied indexes and gilt hands which are all coated with Super-Luminova, the hour markers alternate between dot and baton hour markers. Take note of the small date aperture based at 3 o’clock, blending in seamlessly with the face due to its green backdrop.
The automatic calibre runs the hours, minutes, seconds and the date, as well as the 24 hour hands with added time zone mechanism. As far as self-winding mechanical movements work, this one is pretty stable with a weekend-proof 72 hour power reserve and 25,200 VpH.
Supported with a silicon-balance spring and non magnetic components, the calibre is 10 times more resistant to magnetic fields than the ISO 764 standard. Fitted onto a steel bracelet and secured with a double security folding clasp with micro adjustment system, Christmas is the time for indulgence. So have this extender at the ready.
However, if you are more of a sporty gent, the extension is perfect for divers wanting their watch over their suit. Pair this watch alongside a white jumper, or a black leather jacket for those long evening walks.
You can buy a Longines Hydroconquest GMT at retail for £2,750 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Incredible 300 metre water resistance
- Beautiful sunray finished dial
- Guaranteed durability throughout the screw down caseback, crown and strong steel framework.
3. TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 WBP2115.BA0627
The Aquaracer Professional 200 line traces its lineage back to 1982. At the time when The Falklands war raged on, The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76’s to win the NBA finals and Ozzy Osbourne had an onstage snack with a bat!
Source - Brand’s Site
Originally designed solely for dive and water enthusiasts, the collection is highly durable and water resistant, originally offering 300 metres water resistance from the get-go.
This brand new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 WBP2115.BA0627 is based on the past, but with enough modern touches to not make it a re-hash as poor as the new series of Frasier. Sorry Kelsey but some classics like an AP Royal Oak should remain untouched.
The bezel is unidirectional, making it a great diving countdown scale as it totals 60 minute graduations. Secured with a screw-down crown, the models drop 100 metres water resistance to 200 metres. However, we can still appreciate the awesome design, even if it’s at the expense of 100 metres.
Crafted out of steel, this timepiece is ready for gentle splashing in the shower or parading it round the pool on that well deserved vacay! Coming in at 40mm, these watches are polished on the sides and brushed on the tops of the lugs and the bezel.
The colour of the bezel is incredibly catching, beaming a wreath green sheen that fades to a blackened periphery as per the awesome sunray brushed finish. This is finished off with applied indexes that are edged with steel and feature white centres.
Locked in with a steel strap and a fine brushed/polished aesthetic, the folding double clasp buckle is essential for security, especially if you find that you prefer to spend your holidays out on the waves.
Fitted with a Calibre 5, automatic calibre, the timepieces offer a below modest 38 hour power reserve, but a stronger 28,800VpH. Running the hours, minutes, seconds and the date, we reckon you’d look the part if you wore this with your favourite Elf costume, or a black polo shirt for those days fireside.
You can buy a TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 at retail for £2,600 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Beautiful combination of green dial with a black periphery
- Iconic diving bezel
- Very affordable in comparison with diving competitors like Rolex.
4. Tudor Royal M28403-0008
Chocolates and gold. What’s more festive than that! Perhaps Sir Cliff Richard singing mistletoe and wine…strapped with a vintage Tudor Submariner
Source - Brand’s Site
The Tudor Royal collection is exactly how it sounds. An incredibly luxurious line, the Royal collection has been around since 2020, offering a dressier style to the inherently sporty Tudor line.
This latest watch is crafted in a slimmed down 34mm case of solid steel. Undergoing both a polished and a satin finish, its integral that Tudor still keep some link to its sporty roots which they attain through the brushed steel.
Featuring a notched bezel in yellow gold, the models feature intentionally cut grooves. As unique as the chalcedony component found within the Zenith Defy Extreme Glacier, the grooves vary from etched to applied, allowing for a design that's akin to no one else. Featuring a polished allure, we thoroughly enjoy the smart finish.
The face is a funky chocolate brown that shows applied Roman numerals and a date aperture located at 3 o’clock. The sunburst design beautifully casts light across the face, highlighting various elements of the watch, depending on where the source of light is coming from.
Fitted with a 5 link bracelet that combines both steel centre links with gold capped 0.2mm yellow gold cap links, the watches look great for the discerning gent that has an eye for style. Secured with a sapphire crystal, legibility takes prime position.
Powered by the Calibre T601, the models have a power reserve of 38 hours and offer 100 metres of water resistance. Looking sharp has never been so easy if you pair this with a navy blue cashmere jumper.
You can buy a Tudor Royal at retail for £3,170 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Fantastic melange of chocolate brown and gold
- Dressy alternative to other Tudor watches within their catalogue
- Modern 34mm sizing, ideal for slimmer wrists
Under £5,000
5. Grand Seiko SBGW321
So, Rudolph the rednosed reindeer may have a very shiny nose. But our next best men’s watch for Christmas will not have you puffing those cheeks in a hurry.
The festive season is here and Grand Seiko have created the perfect accompaniment for that mulled wine since LeBron James and Dwayne Wade. Presenting the Grand Seiko reference SBGW321.
Source - Grand Seiko
As you can already assume, expect to see some Japanese inspo, tasteful finishes and a dial that’s ready to rock your world! Not to be confused with the equally stunning Chinese Atelier Wen that incorporates some truly fascinating, Chinese style elements.
Coming in a very dressy 36.5mm x 11.6mm in steel, these watches are polished throughout. Across the top is a box-shaped crystal, granting the pieces 100 metres of water resistance, ensured by the solid caseback and screw-down crown.
For the dial, they have decided to take a stroll through their own Japanese nature to grant us an insight into just how beautiful their land is. Inspired by the Nishikigoi (Japanese Koi), these fish were popularised in Japanese culture in the 9th Century as a pastime for the rich and wealthy.
Typically coming in red, iridescent shades, Grand Seiko have sought to emulate this onto their dials. Therefore, we have a striking red dial, finished with a spiral pattern that stretches out the closer to the dial edge you get.
Allowing the polished applied baton hour markers and sword shaped hands to be clearly defined, this is spotted through the prominent yellow seconds hand that lends itself well to the equally similarly hued Grand Seiko logo below 12 o’clock.
Moving as steady as the Christmas conga through your house, the 9S64 calibre offers a strong +5/-3 seconds per day and 72 hour power reserve. This manual wind movement will ensure your festive acts will not be interrupted!
Capped at 300 pieces, you can buy a Grand Seiko SBGW321 at retail for £5,290 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Minimalist watch
- Great accuracy and power reserve
- Sleek case dimensions for suits
6. Longines Conquest Chrono Ski Edition
Anyone for an apres-ski aperitif?
For those with a few pennies to spare, or you are travelling further afield, why not spend the festive season in a truly “yuletide” place (we’re thinking the Swiss Alps, Norway, anything with some half-decent snow), will likely be snapping up the chance to go skiing too!
Luckily, Longines have us covered with what we feel is a great men’s watch for Christmas, their brand spanking new Longines Conquest Chrono Ski Edition.
Source - Longines
Besides, they are no stranger to snowy sports. Acting as the prominent partner of the International Skiing Federation, holding significant roles of Official Timekeeper for the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup and World Championships, is there nothing that Longines hasn’t covered for this prestigious sport?
For this latest timepiece, we are treated to a 42mm x 14.3mm steel execution. They are generally brushed across the board, with a few polished elements to keep this from being isolated to one, sporty outfit choice. Heck, you can flex this stunner in the boardroom or exclusive chalet bar!
Across the top is a bezel with black ceramic insert, showing a white tachymetric scale. Allowing you to measure speed, this is essential if you want to buy a watch for those snowy slopes, while tearing up that fresh December powder faster than trying to get on the Patek Philippe waitlist.
For the dial, things are ultra-refined with a slate grey, vertical brushed finish. This is a truly mesmerising piece of craftsmanship, and should definitely be paired with something to match the vibe. A black suit instantly springs to our minds.
Furthermore, the monochrome aesthetic allows the triple black chronograph display at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock to be displayed particularly since they have a sunray finish, and the polished applied hour markers and hands are complimented with lume for optimal legibility.
Look, no exhibition caseback. (Big sigh.) However, the solid caseback reveals the skiing influence behind the models, including a skier emblem and their link to covering the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach for 2025. You know we like to keep things current.
While we can’t therefore see the model, we can almost definitely imagine it pulsing away since it’s the super-strong L898.5 Automatic Calibre. The 28,800 VpH and 59 hour power reserve are solid stats, guaranteed by the silicon balance spring for protection against magnetism and shocks.
You can buy a Longines Conquest Chrono Ski Edition at retail for £3,900 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Link to ski association
- Exceptional movement quality
- Complex, yet legible face
7. Tudor Black Bay GMT M79830RB-0010
The Tudor Black Bay collection has swiftly become one of the top collections of Tudor’s portfolio.
Source - Brand’s Site
Debuting in 2012, it’s much more recent than other horological miracles like Zenith’s El Primero calibre released in 1969. Nonetheless, that doesn't detract from its mighty reputation in the watchmaking world or its capability of being one of the best Christmas watches for men.
This latest edition adds a few extra dimensions to the iconic timepiece. Crafted at 41mm of solid steel, there are no out and out brushed finishes here. Instead, they opt to blend both polishing and satin-finishing across the lugs and case sides to present all sides of this brilliant piece.
The timepiece is surrounded by a bi-directional steel rotating bezel with 48 notches and a 24 hour graduated anodised aluminium disc in matt burgundy and blue. Similar to The Rolex GMT-Master Pepsi, it allows for the dial's face to take centre stage.
The face is snow white, following a domed opaline sheen and a final galvanic finish. But there’s nothing dopey about this little number. This matte like effect means the similarly white dot and baton hour markers still stand out due to their applied design.
The small date aperture situated at 3 o’clock may be hard for some viewers, but shouldn’t be too much of a problem. The hands are ironically named “Snowflake” hands due to the hour hand's bulbous head. There is an extra, neon red GMT hour hand that circles around the periphery of the model.
The Black Bay GMT M79830RB-0010 is powered by the Calibre MT5652, a self-winding mechanical calibre that offers a strong power reserve of 70 hours. COSC certified? Yep, that’s right. Expect nothing but the finest precision with this timekeeping beast!
Fixed onto a riveted steel bracelet with similarly polished and satin finishes and a folding clasp, the models are best worn with a black tee and a pair of black chinos for when you are relaxing at home, or a camel overcoat for when you are out and about at those Christmas parties.
You can buy a Tudor Black Bay GMT at retail for £3,780 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- COSC certification
- Elegant face with fantastic galvanic finish
- Timeless bezel colour scheme
8. TAG Heuer Carrera Date WBN231B.BA0001
Harking back to 1963, the story of the TAG Heuer Carrera is as storied a fable as Goldilocks And The Three Bears. Taking inspiration from the great racing heritage of the Carrera Panamericana, a thousand plus mile race from border to border in Mexico. Did you know Carrera actually translates to “Race” in Spanish? Fascinating!
Source - Brand’s Site
Measuring 36mm, thTAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 7 Automatic Accessory 36 mm - WBN231B.BA0001ey are crafted out of stainless steel. Featuring a polished aesthetic along the bezel and the top of the lugs, giving the impression of the ultimate dress piece from the top down. On the sides, the timepieces feature a brushed finish in keeping with its super sporty heritage.
Offering a 50 metre water resistance, the models do not need to reach the high water resistance figures of its diving counterpart because this is an out and out racing watch…with a stylish twist.
Where there is usually a tachymetric scale, there is now a diamond set flange that runs around the entirety of the dial. This luxurious feel is complemented with gold plated baton hour markers and hands, plus a truly stunning, snowfall style silver hammered face finish. A date aperture is presented at 6 o’clock.
The watch is powered by the Calibre 7, an automatic calibre that powers the hours, minutes, seconds and date, as well as offering a 56 hour power reserve. This gives you sufficient time to take it away for that overseas business trip and make it back for the Monday morning watercooler catch up.
The timepiece is connected to the wrist with a H-shaped stainless steel bracelet, a fantastic blend of durability and fashion. This is why we believe this versatile novelty should be worn with a cream white suit shirt for those cocktails in that private members club.
You can buy a TAG Heuer Carrera Date at retail for £4,300 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Gorgeous silver hammered dial
- Beautiful combination of gold hour markers and a striking diamond flange.
- Reliable calibre with a solid 56 hour power reserve.
9. Panerai Luminor Base Logo PAM01087
Panerai has a habit of releasing bulky oversized watches with enough charm to make the sizes seem reasonable. The brand new, 2023 release Luminor Base Logo is another great example of Panerai doing the impossible!
Source - Brand’s Site
Crafted out of 44mm of polished steel, the cushion shape could be construed as being too big, but Panerai deliberately opted for maximum legibility and functionality as opposed to miniature style. Featuring a solid brushed steel back, it is capable of reaching 100 metres of water resistance.
We like the crisp and clear snow white wintry like face with large Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, separated by baton indices and slightly recessed to boost legibility. The crown is protected by a large crown guard, a style that has quickly become a staple of the collection.
It is powered by a P.6000 calibre. At only 4.5mm thick, it runs at 21,600 VpH and has an incredible power reserve of 3 days. It is connected by a Caoutchouc military green strap, suiting the rugged allure of the watch perfectly. Military and outdoorsy types take note…this one has certainly got your name on it…if you are into camping under Mother Nature’s skies with a glass of mulled wine.
We suggest you get on your black winter boots and navy overcoat for those long snowy walks, or opt for a military green shirt for those quiet days by a roaring fire.
You can buy a Panerai Luminor Base Logo at retail for £4,900 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Highly legible display
- Nice and bright, yet capable of dealing with the most rugged of situations
- The large crown guard epitomises the heritage of the watch.
10. Longines Conquest L3.835.4.32.6
Fresh off the horological platter (and just in time for a Christmas horological hamper) is the brand spanking new Longines Conquest L3.835.4.32.6.
Source - Brand’s Site
With a case diameter of 42mm, it follows the background of the Conquest collection since its inception in 1954. Crafted out of stainless steel, they are rather thick at 14.3mm and secured with a screw down crown, it ensures 100 metres of water resistance…enough for a gentle dip or flick of the wrist while showering for that Christmas party.
The face offers a little festive cheer to you diehard horologists. Given a festive bell colour scheme, the sunray aesthetic projects light through the entire piece. Boasting steel applied hour markers and silvered polished hands, they are dosed up with enough Super-Luminova to ensure maximum legibility that Santa himself couldn’t miss.
Three black sub-faces are based at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, pertaining to the heritage of the pieces. Surrounding the face of the piece is a ceramic bezel that features a tachymetric scale.
Powered by the Calibre L898, this automatic piece runs the hours, minutes and small seconds at 3 o’clock, as well as the general functions such as the 12 hour counter at 6 o’clock and a 30 minute counter situated at 9 o’clock. Running at 28,800VpH, they offer a power reserve of 59 hours.
Fitted with a 3 link steel bracelet, they are secured with a triple safety folding clasp. We reckon you’d look fantastic if you went all out and wore a black jumper with gold trimmings and your best brown brogues to those fancy Christmas dinners.
You can buy a Longines Conquest at retail for £3,650 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Beautiful golden face colour
- Excellent calibre
- Highly durable steel case
Under £9,000
11. IWC Pilots Chronograph 41 - Green Dial
Since 1994, The IWC Pilot’s Chronograph has been hot on the wrists of pilots and horophiles alike.
Source - Brand’s Site
Crafted out of steel, The IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 boasts a brushed aesthetic on the top of the lugs and a polished allure on the sides and on top of the bezel. At a fairly accessible 41mm sizing, it prides itself on its classical circular shape. With a height of 14.5mm, it is wide with the intention of boasting legibility that's essential when in the midst of flight.
The dial boasts three distinct sub-faces that fits in with the “instrument” styling of the watch, and becomes an optimal tool for everyday use. Built into such an ergonomic sizing, it is given a rich, green face with a date aperture situated at 3 o’clock.
The hour markers are made up of Arabic numerals that are similarly coated in luminescence. There is a jolt of colour within the sub face at 6 o’clock as it features a neon red hand. The hands are also steel, in keeping with the refined case of the watch.
The piece is connected to our wrist via a brown leather strap with an integrated EasX-Change system. This allows for it to be taken on and off the wrist with consummate ease. Capable of supporting 100 metres of water resistance, you don’t have to be cooped up in the cockpit to wear this beauty.
You can view the calibre 69385 through the sapphire back. Bolstered with a column wheel, the calibre totals 242 components and runs accurate timekeeping functions exceptionally well, due to its 28,800 VpH and has a 46 hour power reserve.
You can buy an IWC Pilot’s Chronograph at retail for £6,650 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Strong pilot heritage
- Luxurious material
- Combination of both the instrument styling and dressy luxury is very modern
12. TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport - Red
As we know, red is a key colour of the festive season, and if you want to be speeding down your sleigh rocking a great piece, take a look at our next best men’s watch for Christmas.
This time round, TAG Heuer has this colour in more abundance than James Bond and his cheesy quotes… "Oh, Moneypenny, the story of our relationship: close, but no cigar"
Source - TAG Heuer
As a part of the incredibly sporty Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport line, this exceptional watch is housed within a bulky case, designed to catch eyes and have people reaching over the turkey to get their hands on it in time for the next Golden Globes or Emmys.
Measuring 44mm x 15.1mm, our humble view is a tad on the thick side. Make no mistake, this is definitely a statement piece, but TAG Heuer presents it in a titanium case, negating the bad weight effects that a similar model in steel would produce.
The majority is brushed, but the small, polished elements like the case sides and the pushers, add a little contrast to the sportiness of the models. Across the top is a black ceramic bezel, allowing the grey tachymetric scale to be clearly defined. Remember, this is inherently a race watch!
For the jolts of red, simply refer to both the neon red rubber strap, and the dial of the watch. While there are interjecting anthracite bridges and a minute track around the edge of the face, the red elements are displayed via the seconds hand, the quarter of a second scale.
The two chronograph counters at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock are displayed in openworked apertures, while the 3 and 9 o’clock subdials have red hands for seamlessness. We are a fan of the openworked date aperture at 6 o’clock which reveals a completely red track!
We respect that time is of the utmost priority for many horophiles and office execs. Therefore, we don't waste a single second thanks to the TH20-00 calibre. Completely in-house, this movement qualifies you to a 28,800VpH alongside a robust 80 hour power reserve.
You can buy a TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport at retail for £7,150 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Red is very prominent
- Range of useful functions
- Modern openworked design
13. Bell & Ross BR-X5 Iridescent
Christmas is all about getting your glam game spot on.
Parties, colour and celebrating life is all part of this horological rainbow. Why not buy a watch that is as shiny as that icicle on your porch, and bluer than a winter morning sky? Let’s bring in some of the best new watches from this year, the Bell & Ross BR-X5 Iridescent!
Source - Bell & Ross
The 41mm x 12.8mm steel watches can easily reach 100 metres of water resistance, allowing you to wear this in a plethora of environments. The square in a circle aesthetic is truly timeless, including the four hex screws in each corner. It’s a completely unique design that none of the other top watch brands have truly mastered like the Paris-based timekeepers.
Combining polishing and brushing across the case, the square bezel and large crown guards, this is a model for the everyday flexer. Linked onto a white rubber strap, this is quickly becoming one of the best men’s Christmas watches on our list!
For the dial, it’s framed by a 60-minute scale on the flange. This fits in seamlessly with the rest of the face, as it is all iridescent! Yes, this means a rainbow finish is boasted when light hits the face. Rarer than a Patek Philippe reference 1518 or trip to Franck Muller’s exclusive Watchland, doesn’t this beauty look just like the six inches of sun-reflected snow in your garden?
Time is read via the applied white batons and polished hands. Filled with Super-LumiNova X1, the watches are exceptionally bright and easily readable in both day and the night. Fitted with a power reserve at 9 o’clock and an unorthodox triple date aperture at 3 o’clock.
None of this would be possible without the high-powered BR-CAL.323. Better news yet, this is your Christmas dream come true as it is COSC certified, allowing the models to consistently produce 28,800VpH alongside a 72 hour power reserve.
You can buy a Bell & Ross BR-X5 Iridescent at retail for £7,300 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Rare, iridescent finish
- Solid, COSC certified movement
- Reliable water resistance
14. Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph
Hot, hot, hot! This one was just released by Breitling as an overhaul of the Avenger collection! Mind you we don’t need our Spidey senses to tell you how sexy this would look on the wrist and around the yuletide table.
Source - Brand’s Site
The Breitling Avenger has its roots connected with jet pilots and the rock n roll lifestyle of being in the cockpit. The Avenger is also designed for the common man who enjoys his watches like a svelte Michael Buble over the Christmas season.
Crafted out of steel, the models are sized at around 44mm which is very bulky, especially since they have a 15.2mm thickness. At 53mm tall, the timepiece is one to wear loud and proud for festive cocktail parties. Don’t even try to conceal it behind shirt sleeves!
Featuring a screw in crown and a screw in caseback, the models are 300 metres water resistant, an extraordinary figure considering this is a pilot's timepiece Featuring a cambered sapphire crystal that’s glareproofed on both sides, office lighting or the sun through your private jet window will not hinder you.
A large bi-directional ratcheted bezel is built around the timepiece with a 60 minute graduated scale. The face is inspired by military shades, but we think its matte green shade looks a lot like a certain evergreen plant… One of the best Christmas watches? Maybe.
Showcasing three black sub dials, the second hand is given a red tip in order to enhance the legibility of its design. The subdials relate to the 1 ⁄ 4 seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours. Powered by the Breitling 01 self-winding movement, these specific models offer a great power reserve of 70 hours and a 28,800VpH frequency. We recommend you wear this with a green overcoat or a black trench coat for the wintry slew of special occasions.
You can buy a Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph at retail for £6,550 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Loud and proud!
- Highly durable build with 300 metres water resistant
- Excellent 70 hour power reserve and 28,800 VpH
15. Santos de Cartier WSSA0061
The Santos de Cartier is as formidable and ideal for gifting this time of year as Santa’s ruddy cheeks!
Source - Brand’s Site
Dating back to 1904, this watch is influenced by Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont who asked friend Louis Cartier to make a timepiece that could be worn on the wrist.
Designed with a square bezel, the watch became the first ever watch to be worn on a plane! The design hasn’t drastically changed from its initial release all that time ago. The latest Santos de Cartier still retains its inherently sporty allure, but opts for a fresh face colour that may outsmoke your chimneys this cold winter and total up as one of the best Christmas watches to date.
The case follows the square design and slightly rounded curves. Sizing at the typical 41.9mm, it has a water resistance of 100 metres. Of course, the good stuff comes in the form of the dial.
Given a beautifully smoky green dial, it features a sunray brushed aesthetic and a subsequent gradient effect. Boasting applied markers and sword shaped hands that are firstly rhodium plated and then polished, they clearly stand out against the moodiness of the green dial.
The watch is powered by the rough and ready Calibre 1847 MC. As an automatic calibre that sizes up at 25.60mm, it has 23 jewels, a somewhat modest 40 hour power reserve and a 28,800VpH. Look this is no Panerai Luminor with a whopping 8 day power reserve, but why would it need to when it looks so sharp!
Fitted onto an interchangeable steel bracelet or a shiny green alligator leather strap, we recommend the alligator strap for those pre-Christmas drinks around Oxford Street and the bracelet for traversing the snowy mountains of the Peak District.
You can buy a Santos de Cartier at retail for £6,750 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Iconic case design
- Beautiful green face sheen
- Combination of sporty and dressy with two straps.
16. Grand Seiko Yuka Momoji
Want a piece that lights up as hot as the coals within your fireplace? Let’s introduce you to the Grand Seiko Yuka Momoji.
Source - Brand’s Site
This watch is a very accessible 39.5mm sizing that’s crafted out of the illustrious stainless steel material. The watch opts for security with the exhibition back that’s secured with six screws.
Given a thickness of around 14.1mm, they are rather thick, but don’t let that dissuade you. With a polished aesthetic along the top of the lugs and the bezel, we like the brushed finish only through the straps. Plus there is all that Zaratasu polishing which the brand is famous for.
Given a sapphire crystal over the dial, the crystal has a box shape and an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface. Take off your jackets, here comes the warmth of a sizzling dial. The face is inspired by Japanese autumnal scenery and themed architecture.
The floors within Japanese homes and temples eventually became a reflective surface, eventually resulting in a mirror like sheen. How’s this for a combination? The colour graduations are inspired by the changing of the seasons and vertical patterns which resemble lacquered wooden floors. Not quite a roaring fireplace, but still a contender as one of the best Christmas watches.
Defined as the “Nature of Time”, Japan closely ties with its surrounding environment, appreciating beauty in the changing of seasons.
Given a 24-hour hand alongside the face time display function, the watch competently links in with a calendar-linked time difference adjustment function. They are powered by the exceptional Calibre 9S86. Offering a great accuracy of -3/+5 seconds per day, the automatic calibre with manual winding capabilities offers a power reserve of 55 hours. And that’s timely if you need to hot foot it for that last minute overseas business trip.
Fitted with a steel strap, a three-fold clasp and push button release, they would suit a gentleman in a burgundy jumper, or a garter stitched grey jumper with a turtleneck.
You can buy a Grand Seiko Yuka Momoji at retail for £6,700 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Hot, burgundy dial
- Fantastic GMT functionality
- Stunning link of the burgundy face with the Japanese inspired environment.
17. Grand Seiko SBGJ275
Brand new out of Grand Seiko’s stables, comes the phenomenal SBGJ275.
Source - Brand’s Site
A touch of frost this certainly is. Another cool and crisp addition to the ever growing Sport Collection, this latest watch has been released in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Calibre 9S Mechanical.
This GMT piece is crafted out of stainless steel. Truth be told, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the most important movements of all time, we would’ve enjoyed a more interesting material like platinum. But don’t despair…we must remember this is a celebration.
Measuring 44.2mm and with a lug to lug of 50.6mm, these are not small Christmas watches that can fit under your shirt sleeves but will definitely take pride of place as a gift under the tree. However, with a face as pretty as James Bond, why would you ever want to hide it behind cloth?
Presented behind a dual-curved sapphire crystal that utilises anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, we thoroughly enjoy the beautiful blue face that shows clouds at daybreak.
Inspired by the sky over Mt Iwate (the location of Grand Seiko HQ), the face is surrounded by a rotating sapphire bezel that similarly utilises the blue and white aesthetic which allows the watch to be seamless, and shows the GMT functionality of not one but three time zones.
This time round we see it being powered by the Calibre 9S86, an automatic, manual winding calibre that offers a daily precision rate of between +5 to -3 seconds per day and a power reserve of 55 hours. Capable of reaching 200 metres of water resistance, Grand Seiko keep legibility in mind with the luminous, Lumibrite coating on the hands, hour markers and bezel.
Representing the first time their mechanical watch has a sapphire back and a 200 metre water resistance, the watch is locked in with a steel three link strap and a three gold clasp with push button release. We think you’d look the part with a sharp pin strip festive red pinstripe suit or a grey cotton overshirt.
Capped at 2,000 pieces making it more sought after, you can buy a Grand Seiko SBGJ275 at retail for £7,250 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Beautiful Mt Iwate inspired dial
- Excellent GMT functionality
- Capable of reaching 200 metres even with a sapphire back
18. Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42mm
Way back in the 1940s, Willy Breitling took to creating a design that boasted elegance with impeccable functionality. Enter, The Premier collection.
Source - Brand’s Site
The Premier collection has since been updated in 2023 with the beautiful Breitling B01 42mm. Made up of 42mm of solid steel, these watches are rather thick at 13.6mm and quite tall at a total tip to tip length of 50mm.
Featuring a fixed bezel and screw in back, it is able to attain a water resistance of around 100 metres which isn't too bad considering the piece doesn't have a screw-in crown. On the side of the piece are two rectangular pushers that side astride either side of the crown.
The classical circular face is filled with twin-register sub-faces and applied Arabic numerals that are crafted out of polished steel. Given a rich green sheen, the date aperture at 6 o’clock is just as enhanced as the two recessed sub faces positioned at both 3 and 9 o’clock.
Supported by a Breitling 01 calibre, they offer a self-winding mechanical calibre that runs at 28,800VpH and an impressive 70 hour power reserve. It operates at 1/4th second which is almost guaranteed thanks to its COSC certification. 20. Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT Worldtimer
Green and the festive period are more intertwined than Audemars Piguet and Marvel or tinsel enveloped around that Christmas tree.
Source - Brand’s Site
Now, The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra collection has been running since 2002. Offering a fresh take on the Seamaster line, the Worldtimer aesthetic offers a unique play on its GMT timekeeping.
Coming in at 43mm and a lug-to-lug of 50mm, the watches are built with a steel build that features chamfered lugs and a brushed aesthetic along the top of the lugs. Sure, steel is a solid enough material, but we particularly enjoy a number of other materials that it employs.
The good stuff comes in the form of the face. Featuring a sun-brushed green face, the models are surrounded by a gorgeous, green ceramic bezel. The Worldtimer feel comes in the form of a vision of earth in the centre of the face.
Crafted on a grade 5 titanium surface, the Earth viewing is presented specifically above the North Pole. The continents and colours are laser-ablated, ensuring maximum legibility and excellence of design. A truly mesmeric piece that deserves our attention on this list of the best Christmas watches.
The topographic map is surrounded by a 24 hour indication that splits both into night and day segments. Further outside of that, there are a number of locations that include Sydney, London and Alaska.
All of these place names are given a yellow sheen aside from London which is given a red colouring in order to clarify the Universal Time Coordinated time zone. The face is given 18K Moonshine Gold hour markers, hands and an extra GMT hour hand.
Powered by the Calibre Omega 8938, the models run a 60 hour power reserve and pulsate away at 3.5Hz. Protected up to a whopping 15,000 gauss as provided by the silicon balance spring, we guarantee that your laptop won’t damage your watch!

21. Blancpain Air Command 36mm - Green Dial
Unveiled in October 2024, Blancpain introduced a pairing sweeter than a fine port and a selection of delectable cheeses.
Coming in at 42mm or 36mm, we decided to take a chance on the little guy, and would therefore like to take our festive chances on the Air Command 36mm Green Dial.
Source - Blancpain
Sized at 36.2mm x 11.50mm, the watches are about average for the modern dress watch, yet the traditional Air Command was not made for such a purpose.
Manufactured for the U.S Air Force back in 1957 (at the same time as the launch of the Speedmaster) as a prototype, we are glad the watches have evolved, eventually producing the super-stylish variant that even green-lover Robin Hood himself would flex
Crafted out of the exceptionally rare grade 23 titanium, this variant is uncommon in horology, yet takes up the highest echelon of possible grades. Talk about being the biggest nerd! Expect optimal durability and a stunning lustre across the brushed lugs and polished pushers on either side of the crown.
Around the frame is a ceramic bezel as dark as the black dial on the H. Moser and Cie Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack with an inverse 60-minute scale. Stepping into the dial, there’s a tachymetric scale on the edge, still for that earnest pilot who wants to get home for Christmas in the quickest time possible…like Chris Rea.
The dial comes in a delightful, sandblasted green shade, allowing the lume-coated Arabic numerals and hands to clearly stand out. Completely luminescent, they stand out superbly, just like the dual chronograph subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock. Looking sharp for boozy seasonal parties can be tough though. Mind you, that green leather calfskin strap will make things a little easier, even if the price does fly over the £10,000 mark!
Ticking with the utmost precision is the Calibre F188B. Producing a reliable 3Hz within a slight 5.48mm thick movement, the 40 hour power reserve is guaranteed by the silicon balance spring and 35 jewels.
You can buy a Blancpain Air Command 36mm at retail for £19,100 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Ultra-legible dial
- Low-key sandblasted aesthetic
- Very rare grade 23 titanium material
22. Cartier Tank Louis WGTA0190
What’s nicer than a glass of mulled wine and the first cut of an oiled up turkey? How about a brand new Cartier Tank Louis with a scintillating wine red face, of course!
Source - Brand’s Site
The Cartier Tank Louis takes its lineage from way back in 1917 when founder Louis Cartier fought on the Western Front and saw the Renault F-17 tanks in action. Inspired by the branchards on this machine, they mirror an eagle-eye view of the tops of the tanks.
Given a gorgeous yellow gold casing that’s 6.6mm thick, it boasts a highly modern design that can be worn in a variety of social situations. On the right of the timepiece is a stunning signature blue sapphire cabochon, as per the tradition of these timeless luxury watches.
Featuring a deep, red lacquer effect face, don’t fear if you think timekeeping is impossible to read. There were never any hour markers to begin with! That’s right, Cartier has opted for the ultimate minimalist piece by just leaving golden-finish steel sword shaped hands below a mineral crystal. Now how’s that for the ultimate touch of simplicity
It is powered by an automatic movement, The Calibre 1917MC. Running at 3Hz, it has a 38 hour power reserve which powers the hours and minutes. Fitted with a burgundy leather strap, they are a hot horological property, which should be worn with a chequered red and black shirt and black chinos.

23. Zenith Defy 21 Chroma II
Christmas is the time for wintry landscapes and colourful trees. What if we said we have a piece that encapsulates both these Christmas inspired themes?
Source - Brand’s Site
At 44mm, The Zenith Defy 21 Chroma II is by no means a small watch. What it lacks in subtlety, it makes up for in unbridled glamour. It counteracts its size by being crafted out of white ceramic, a highly lightweight yet immensely durable material.
Offering 100 metres of water resistance, it boasts an openworked face, showing a white minute track on the periphery of its face, and the rainbow coloured calibre present behind the three white sub faces. The hour markers are made up of a similar rainbow aesthetic, stemming from the turquoise colourings at 1 o’clock, pink sheens at 7 o’clock and oranges at 10 o’clock.
They are powered by the legendary El Primero calibre which packs more speed than a Formula 1 engine. Since its original release in 1969, it has been ticking along, adored by the community for its outstanding 36,000 VpH since its inception and its single handed revolution on promoting the automatic movement industry.
However, with the latest modern tech, it’s become even more of a horological powerhouse.
Boasting 293 components, these luxury watches offer a 50 hour power reserve and a fantastic 36,000VpH frequency. Running 1/100th of a second chronograph that powers the 30 minute counter at 3 o’clock, 60 second counter at 6 o’clock and a small seconds at 9 o’clock.
They are fitted with a white rubber strap that undergoes rainbow stitching on either side in line with the colour scheme. You’d look like a luxury fashionista if you wore this with a blue jumper and a black jeans.

Source - Brand’s Site
This variation comes in at 42.3mm of a sculpted red gold piece. Featuring lustrous finishes and fantastic geometry, The Streamliner is given a unique, cushion shaped model that features pushers at 1, 4 and 10 o’clock.
The face is green enough to give you that Christmas tingle and is linked in with a Matrix Green fumé face for a great touch of sporty feel. On top of the dial, the timepieces boast functionality in a unique way. The second and minute hands are centrally placed, allowing for a swift reading of the elapsed time after a few clicks of the pushers.
Fitted with flyback functionality, it can easily be activated without having to stop and reset the piece first. The minimalist face design does away with hour markers, instead opting for 60 minute markers and an alternating minute track around the dial’s periphery.
The timepiece is powered by the HMC 907 movement, the great automatic calibre that features a flyback function and a clutching system that relates to the integrated movement. Entirely visible through the exhibition back, this timepiece gets more avant garde by the second! Given a 72 hour power reserve, this is a hardy calibre for those gents wanting one of the best Christmas watches this year.

25. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds
If you’ve received a few Christmas cards that are ladened with cash, we recommend you splash out on a stunning dress timepiece. Let’s introduce the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds.
Source - Brand’s Site
The very first edition arrived in 1931, but now Jaeger-LeCoultre have gone one step further with a fantastic new release. At an exceptionally small 7.56mm case size, it is made from a beautiful pink gold case.
Admittedly, it’s not built for durability, as noted by it’s 30 metre water resistance, but you don’t wear such a watch for that reason. You flex it for the beautiful rectangular case and the immediately recognizable and iconic Reverso style.
You also have it on for an eye-catching face that you want to become a real head turner when entering the office function or sitting down at the Christmas table. Boasting a sunray face, the beautiful burgundy sheen is achieved from applying successive layers of lacquer. Not only does this result in a rich colour, but the ability for it to change under light and offer different reflections.
Showcasing a small seconds sub face located at 6 o’clock, the applied hour markers are thin batons and the hands are Dauphine, tapering down towards a sharp, sword edge. Fixed in with two strap types, you can either wear a bi-material strap which is made up of both leather and canvas, as well as a leather strap that’s made by legendary Argentinean bootmaker, Casa Fagliano.
Look your best and pair this with a burgundy suit, or level down and wear a black turtleneck while swishing a glass of eggnog or dessert wine. Powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822, it runs the seconds, hours and minute features.
The manual wind calibre is made up of 108 components, pertaining to its miniscule thickness of 2.94mm. Running at 21,600VpH and offering a power reserve of 42 hours, this is rather impressive given how small the calibre is.

What We Like

- Exceptionally minimalist case
- Stunning burgundy face which makes the ideal gift at this time of year.
26. Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Self-Winding
The Code 11.59 collection has quickly become a technical staple of the horological world and a change in direction from the oh so coveted Royal Oak. Of course we have Gerald Genta to give props to here, responsible for all manner of luxury watches including The Omega Constellation and The Patek Philippe Nautilus.
Source - Brand’s Site
Priding itself on aesthetic and technical excellence, the models are typically made up of a combination of both octagonal and rounded shapings, resulting in a beautiful, curved sapphire crystal, promoting instant visibility across the entirety of the face.
In this instance, the Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Self-Winding is crafted entirely out of an 18K white gold construction. Utilising a brushed finish across the tops of the lugs and a polished finish along the top of the bezel.
As per its heritage, they come equipped with a double glare proof sapphire crystal and back. Measuring 41mm, the timepiece is fairly slender at 10.7mm thickness and has 30 metres of water resistance. Though, here’s a spoiler alert, we wouldn’t recommend dive bombing into the ocean on your well earned break to The Bahamas.
Fitted with a smoked, burgundy face that features a lacquered coating and a sunburst pattern finish, the dial has high levels of clarity with 18K white gold applied hour-markers and hands. These look sublime against a black lacquered inner bezel that runs around the periphery of the face.
Fitted with a burgundy rubber strap with an 18K white gold pin on the buckle, this piece would look perfect with a red tuxedo or cumberbund if you are off to a very swanky affair. You must be bold to pull this off!

Source - Brand’s Site

The timepiece is crafted out of Rolex’s proprietary material Everose gold which was originally introduced in 2005. Worn by Presidents like Trump, Nixon and Reagan, this collection is certified for leaders!
Glistening like that first snowflake on Christmas morning, the green aventurine dial, a stone that has a finely crystallised surface that pertains to the glimmer is decked out like stockings on the mantelpiece with Roman numeral hour markers, filled with 32 diamonds in total. 29. Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon
Luxury is all around during the festive period. In that spirit, let’s take a look at the beautiful Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon that was released at this year's Watches and Wonders 2023.
Source - Brand’s Site
Crafted out of 950 platinum with a 41mm case diameter, this piece is instantly luxurious on both the eye and wrist. Given a thickness of 10.4mm, the models have 30 metres of water resistance which isn’t very good, but expected for a snazzy dress timepiece.
The stepped round case and lugs are enhanced by a slender, polished bezel. Even if you twist the watch around, you will notice the beauty of the fluted caseback. However, the real genius comes in the form of the beautiful dial.
The green face is finished with a galvanic sheen, allowing a shine that cannot be attained with any other style of finish. Considering this sits within the equally polished platinum case, we certainly have a twinkle in our eye.
The indices and the Dauphine, sword shaped hands are crafted from white gold which stands out against the green backdrop. Representing an entirely new colouring for the collection, we are simply in awe at this brilliant piece.

30. Patek Philippe Cubitus 5821/1A
Don’t be a square. Where have you been?
No, we ain't talking about the 47th US President, Donald J. Trump who will be inaugurated on January 20th 2025. We are talking about another rollercoaster that’s hit the timekeeping sphere quicker than Joe Biden stepping down.
Chances are, you have heard all about the mystery surrounding the new Cubitus line from Patek Philippe.
Source - Patek Philippe
Representing the first new collection from the brand since the Patek Philippe Aquanaut was released in 1997, they top Swiss luxury watch brand may be a little late to the Millennium bash. But it arrived just in time to breathe some new life into Thierry Stern’s cheeks.
Initially leaked in Fortune magazine in October 2024, the design brought a few, let’s say contrasting opinions and raised eyebrows to say the least. But we can’t get enough and neither can Mark Wahlberg who was the first to get his mitts on the delicious green dial.
Destined to become one of the best men’s watches for Christmas, we’re opting for the Patek Philippe 5821A due to its rich evergreen dial, pairing up nicely with that wreath of the tree you’ve erected in your living room or on your front door.
Heavily inspired by the Nautilus with its ear aesthetic and octagonal case, the Cubitus decides to go for a more industrial persona, with shaper, chamfered edges, a more square bezel and with less obtrusive ears than Mickey Mouse. Oh this would be some fairytale if you can get your hands on one…
Crafted out of steel, it’s an interesting take on a brand that is noted for producing some of the most stunning precious metal watches to date across the Calatrava and Grand Complications series.
However, they opt for a vertical brushed finish across the bezel and polished edges for a contrasting and contemporary look. With just 30 metres of water resistance, it’s best you save this for those formal occasions.
The dial offers a tasteful, sunburst olive green shade with a horizontal embossment, mimicking the same sort of finish found in the Nautilus lineup. In all fairness, the Cubitus offers a corrugated door style finish, lending to the rough-and-ready theme behind the pieces.
Offering general timekeeping via the prominent, faceted hour markers and hands, they all have lume centres. This pairs nicely with the low-key date aperture at 3 o’clock, hinting to first rate functionality.
Keeping better time than Deutsche Bahn, the 26-330 S C self-winding calibre is a miniscule 3.3mm thick, yet offers a 45 hour power reserve and a reliable 28,800VpH. Secured with a Spiromax balance spring and Gryomax balance, these guys really ensure that time really is of the essence.
Who cares about the haters Thierry!
You can buy a Patek Philippe Cubitus 5821/1A at retail for £35,330 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Brand new collection for the first time in a quarter of a century
- Sumptuous dial colour oozing class and sophistication.
- Tasteful polishing and brushing on the steel
31. Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Self-Winding 85180/000J-H069
This time of year is of course the one for giving. So as we are in the spirit of things, here is another selection on our list of the best men’s watches for Christmas. And this one is sure to make the silicon hairsprings on your neck stand up.
It may be the end of the year, with bonus checks and office parties! Best hope it hasn't fallen faster than luxury watch prices on the secondary market…

If you are planning on cashing in on something to celebrate, and want something to match that golden Christmas crown, that would look fetching on King Charles III, you cannot get anything better than the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Self-Winding 85180/000J-H069.
When the Patrimony was first introduced to the world back in 2004, the line celebrated the classic dress watches from the 1950s. Perhaps the Great Gatsby of round watches with apparently more than 80% sold in the world being of this shape.
With circular cases and razor thin bezels, is there anything more stylish than vintage reinterpretations? Heck, every Swiss watch brand knows the score nowadays, including Girard-Perregaux with their consistent Laureato octagonal bezel since the 70s.
Celebrating 20 years of the Patrimony line, this reference was created as a collaboration with iconic French designer, Ora ïto. Working with Swatch and Heineken, his main ethos is Simplexity, a term he coined to fuse hyper-futuristic elements with an emphasis on minimalism.
Perhaps he has outdone himself with this model. Creds to you, Ora!
Crafted out of 18K 3N yellow gold, the watches 40mm x 8.5mm case specs are ultra-thin and perfect accompaniments to the modern dressy fan. They could even make your cringy Santa ensemble look London Fashion Week ready!
The dial similarly opts for a yellow gold glaze, with a snailed finish throughout. With a great many lines stacking up the centre where the thin, dark gold hands lie, there is a thicker ring distinguishing the outer layer where the equally dark gold hour markers.
If you weren’t already given enough gold to drown Scrooge McDuck, we have a series of small, golden dots to represent the minute track in a completely luxurious way. To finalise the dial is a low-key date aperture at 6 o’clock with red text.
Behind every great watch is a stronger calibre, and this reference is no exception. Fitted with the Calibre 2450 Q6, its 3.6mm thickness does not make this a weakling. The 4Hz and 40 hour power reserve together with the summarising Hallmark of Geneva are strong proponents of this beauty being able to last a lifetime.
That is unless Brad Pitt snaps them up to add to his impressive 222 novelty.
Capped at 100 pieces, you can buy a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Self-Winding 85180/000J-H069 at retail for £34,000 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Uber luxurious yellow gold case and dial
- Hallmark of Geneva certified, ensuring pristine quality
- Excellent collab project
32. Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel Seddiqi
Nile Rodgers once proclaimed in his band Chic to “Freak Out”
And that’s precisely what we are going to do with our next best men’s watch for Christmas. Remember seeing your first snowfall? Those white flakes falling through the sky? Excellent, you will be more than happy to let nostalgia envelop you like a wintry cloud thanks to the Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel Seddiqi onto your wrist!
Source - Ulysse Nardin
At 43mm x 13.78mm they are bordering Panerai territory. However, the Neuchâtel-based brand, Ulysee Nardin looks to counter that by using grey titanium to combat the prominent, physical presence. The 50 metres of water resistance will certainly not win any Oscars.
But it represents the dressy, instinctive nature of the watches. Hey, if Andrew Tate loves a tidy Ulysse Nardin (as we spotted the Maxi Marine Diver affixed to his wrist), then surely it’s good enough for your next purchase!
Given a layered case, the domed sapphire crystal sits above like a king in his castle, offering optimal legibility and maximising the legibility of the dial. Before you start thinking this collaboration is with an enamel making business, this is actually the title of one of the Middle East’s leading luxury watch retailers. However enamel is, funnily enough, a material that is used for the face.
Called “Yas Blue”, this looks to imitate the bright blue shades of the evening sky at sunset over the Gulf of Arabia’s waters. Sounds very Grand Seiko, but still retains that wintery, Christmas vibe.
xxxxxxThe dial is the end product of the hard work by the artisans at Ulysse Nardin’s Donzé Cadrans Manufacture in Le Locle. The textured, guilloche finish is presented from a wavy outer ring to a tighter, more concentric centre.
We’re going to try and explain the most complex dial we’ve ever seen. Simply refer to the hour markers on the flange, and use the pointer emanating from the centre of the bridge to cover the minutes, and use the white-lume filled pointer on the mainplate to cover the hours.
Luckily, Ulysse Nardin produced the Calibre UN-230 to make sure this beauty remains under control. The 21,600VpH is fine, but the 72 hour power reserve is much better, especially since the movement is stabilised by the silicium (not spelt silicon like normal!) balance wheel.
Capped at 30 pieces, you can buy a Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel Seddiqi at retail when you contact a boutique for a price.
What We Like
- Investment piece with scarce supply
- Completely unique pattern
- Excellent contrast with the titanium case and electric blue dial
33. Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase Date Malachite Limited Edition
Fancy a luxury white gold casing with a green dial so refined that it makes that high-end Christmas present you bought, seem quite cheap? Let’s take a look at the Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase Date Malachite Limited Edition!
Source - Frederique Constant
The 40mm x 12.4mm case is polished from the lugs, to the bezel and the sides. What else would you use for such a delightful dress watch?
For the dial, they opt for a sensational green malachite material. This is a mineral that is typically crushed and used in green paints, and can be used to locate copper by geologists. Producing a completely unique pattern for each model, we now understand why they’ve locked this down to just 36 pieces!
For its functionality, we have applied silver, diamond cut indices with equally silver, sword shaped hands. Lume may not be in full supply, but these stark features are instantly discernible to the naked eye at least.
At 6 o’clock is a moon-phase indicator with a date ring around the periphery. This feature is neither obtrusive, nor as minimalist as a simple aperture. You never know when you need to track the moon!
Frederique Constant employs the use of the in-house FC-716 automatic calibre. Producing a 28,800VpH and 72 hour power reserve, the movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, showcasing the fabulous Côtes de Genève finish.
Capped at 36 models, you can buy a Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase Date Malachite Limited Edition at retail for £25,995 as of November 2024.
What We Like
- Rich green colour
- Stylish moon-phase complication
- Incredible 72 hour power reserve
