Fitted with a 60 minute chronograph subdial at 3 o’clock, and running seconds based at 9 o’clock, we think this deserves a place on our best green dial list because it offers quite a punch, especially since it looks so avant-garde in design. The small date aperture located at 3 o’clock could prove difficult to view too as it rests within the subdial.

The Big Bang UNICO Saxem is powered by the MHUB1280 which is supported by a column wheel. Given a 72 hour power reserve, they run at 28,800VpH which is very accurate. The eyes are instantly drawn into the watches’ dial which is composed of enamelled aventurine. How is this effect produced? Made from crushed green aventurine glass and enamel, the material is made in a kiln by being heated at various high temperatures which allows it to be both transparent and have an extraordinary level of depth.

Given a smoked effect that graduates from black on the periphery to green in the centre, it allows the inner bezel to be seamless with the black edging and the rose gold Arabic numerals and baton markers to clearly appeal. Inspired by the original 1917 Tank, based on Renault F-17 machines in World War One, the notable aesthetic features such as the brancard inspired, rectangular shape and smooth finishes are all present in the current Cartier Louis Tank.

Yielding a somewhat meh 30 metres of water resistance, you won’t be windsurfing or sailing in a hurry. But it should be good enough to wear when getting a tad soapy in the bath.

Given a miniscule thickness of 6.6mm and a case diameter of 33.7mm they are crafted out of yellow gold which boasts the ultimate luxury of the watch. Fitted with a blue sapphire cabochon that’s a trademark of the Tank, the models are minimalist and suitable for evening wear or post work drinks. Yes, it may have poor water resistance but this is combated with its suave design.

Given a healthy green lacquer that promotes the legibility of the dial, including gold hands and Cartier text at 12 o’clock, there are no hour markers or other features which may clog up the simplistic face. This is easily an Emmy grade timepiece!

Powered by the Movement 1917 MC which offers a 3Hz and a modest 38 hour power reserve, these watches are unfortunately not able to be seen through the solid gold caseback. Nevertheless, we appreciate their quality anyway.

Utilising a satin-brushed finish, this entitles the 200 metre water resistant Black Bay 58 to look smart under a shirt cuff, especially as they have a thickness of 12.7mm. Slim pickings indeed but there is now a tendency for top Swiss brands to promote thinner timepieces.

The sapphire exhibition caseback is a handy addition to users who want to be able to gaze lovingly at the movement. On top there is a bulbous unidirectional bezel which features a 60 minute scale on an anodised aluminium insert. This works well with the equally green dial offering a sense of regalness.

Made up of those all too familiar snowflake Tudor hands (another classic brand reference!), the hour markers are composed of baton and dot numerals. All of the above is given a good dose of luminova with exceptional legibility.

Within the precious metal beauty, enthusiasts will find the Calibre MT5400. With a 70 hour power reserve and COSC certification, it entitles these watches to longevity and a high level of quality. Some may call it a chunk of gold that BA Barakus might adorn but we don’t pity any fool who might want to pick the most expensive Tudor of all time.

For this 2024 model, the Pioneer Centre Seconds Concept Citrus Green, potential wearers are treated to a journey from the Oris Kermit at Watches and Wonders 2023. Only this time with a more tasteful, and arguably greener alternative.

Upon first glance, the 42.8mm diameter is fundamentally used for durability. Crafted out of steel, the models are around 10.6mm thick which will not sit in our view too heavy on the wrist.

We would’ve preferred titanium, but steel is still a good bet as it’s polished thoroughly on the bezel and the lugs. Meanwhile, the sapphire crystal across the top is domed which enhances legibility, and boosts the thickness to around 14.2mm.

The domed sapphire crystal is a funky aesthetic, but the guys at Chrono Hunter HQ are a little confused. What are we trying to enhance the visibility of? The lime green dial boasts a fumé finish which gives a citrusy yellow centre, increasing in intensity to a light green periphery.

However, all that remains are three hands, totalling the hours, minutes and the seconds, with the hour and minutes having a Super-Luminova coated centre.
